Is there a counter to the algos?

I encountered 2 algos today in faction warfare. The question I have is there a ship that can counter the algos? It would have to be a frig or dessie to get into the fw small plexes. i was wondering if kiting with a talwar would work? suggestions anyone?

ANY 2 Destroyers are a pain to engage. However, with links 2 Algos and or Dragoons are a b!tch to engage.

As for one destroyer? Why not just fly an Algos yourself if it's so good v0v

I love these "what counters x" threads because they're never useful. What was the fit? How were they positioned? Did you even go into the plex or just sit there and d-scan and leave? What were you in? Did you guys fight and if so did they stay together or did they just flail about? Need to know more :P

OP - If you would like to kill 2 algos you will need to obtain a certain ship.

Because I am so nice - I am not going to tell you what that ship is called.

But I will give you a few hints.
It is not available on the in game market.
It is not available on contract.
It can usually (but not always) be obtained if you join a player run pvp corp.

2 gank catalyst or 2 gank coercer

just put sebo instead of point so you get the first 2 shots before they can get 1 in. you don't need a point.

Dual ASB hawk can kill two algos, especially if they launch hobs. Harder if they launch Warriors, and very difficult with Valks.

Nah, shouldn't really matter what they launch. Dual ASB Hawk can tank 500 DPS until charges run out, it's more than enough to win a 2 Algos engagement

Medium Shield Booster tanked LM Breacher works well too.
Breachers DPS is a bit low but the Algoses drones become a non issue.

Only when you have claymore boost running and your sig is the size of a shuttle orbiting at 5km/s....make sure you tell the whole story on how that fit works.

Talwar is the best destroyer (but as a whole dessies are a horrible ship class, and should never be flown). Just kite them to death. Your light missiles will easily kill off their drones, and you can kill them from afar. With the talwar, you should be able to handle multiple algos.

Ideally though, just get a cruiser- and **** face.

Yah really. They do horrible DPS, have little to no projection, have no tank, and have horrible speed / compareable sig tank.

Cruisers are always the better option. Always. Unless you are inside a small FW plex. But even then, AF's are superior.

A blaster harpy can smash through a 400mm plate algos fairly good. I used to be scared of algos' but their not so hard if you have a bit of tank. Drones can be dumb and slow to react. If you are quick and on your game, load void, get in their face and smash their teeth in.

I've wondered this myself and the only answer I could come up with is to go back to highsec because there isn't a counter. I really hope CCP fixes this soon because I want to try FW and lowsec.
