I'd say it's pretty inherently bad for an industry, and a culture, that has built its (arguable) greatness on free expression to have that free expression curbed by a borderline-fascist state surveillance apparatus. Although being politically opposed to that same borderline-fascist state surveillance apparatus, I have to say I like it when they do my work for me and prove that there are no sufficient checks and balances to reign in a borderline-fascist state surveillance apparatus when it gets into gear. It's in its nature to push the envelope of what it can and can't do. This time it was a clownish display of incompetence from their part, but it shows their willingness to oppress dissidents. What else is the borderline-fascist state surveillance apparatus known as the Black Eagles doing that we don't hear about?

I really wouldn't take him too seriously, Ms. Rella. It seems like the Empire has just started implanting capsuleer wiring into retirement-home residents as a cost-savings measure.

You are raising a valid question, M Sorjat, there does seem to be something fishy about this encounter with these "SDII members". It is difficult to see why genuine government employees would so openly and blatantly create a scene like this, clearly against the standards of acceptable conduct. However, I don't think Gutter Press, whose reporting has proven to be accurate and reliable world-view building material time and time again, is to be blamed here.

The question is, why would an Impetus employee claim there is something forbidden about their next upcoming romantic action release? Would it perhaps increase the public interest in the title, even make it to the news? What effect all this publicity would have on the sales?

I think this smells suspiciously like a word-of-mouth marketing campaign.

Just reviewing this file after having been away for a few days and ...

Good Lord Gentlemen!! (Pardon the reference). What have you done? Engaged in a deep philosophical debate about history, humanism, religion, Federal Politics and the Word in a Gutter Press Release!!?? Are you crazy?? Do you realize the damage you could do to Pilot Raker? The trauma of reading all that may have caused shock, catatonia and death! She may not be even in her pod and make it to her clone...

If I find out that Pilot Raker or any of the Gutter Press' staff have been harmed by your missives I might feel obliged to put bounties on your heads!! Perhaps Fred and Constantin should each sponsor a lecture series at the University of Caille and maintain residences close to each other. This is the GUTTER PRESS gentlemen. Please keep all responses short, dismissive and bordering on pointless!

Constantine, I think Fred articulated a very academic and widely held view that is not uncommon among most atheistic societies. My less polished view, but not without some merit:

The word "Demand" incurs distrust.
The word "Command" incurs wrath.
The word "Taxes" incurs rebellion.

Learn those words and use them wisely in your preaching among Gallenteans! Avoid them and even Fred might join your religion. Utter them at your peril!

Do not confuse the multiple paradoxes of Gallente society with an inability to act, to organize or to pick a direction. We may not have certainty but that isn't required to do any of those things. Nor even near-certainty.

As for threats...(not directed at anyone in particular)... isn't that a little beneath an immortal?

Pilot Saissore, you raise a very interesting point! Do you think that the Gutter Press could stoop to fomenting conspiracy theories about the Black Eagles to promote a cheap Gallente holoreel??

Interesting theory and it has been given some credibility by Pilot Kim's flatout denial of any involvement. I certainly hope it isn't true because if they made up this story about being 'visited by Black Eagles' as just an attempt at self-promotion well... Pilot Raker could be in a lot of trouble. You really don't want to be spreading conspiracy theories about a group of folks that are truly above the law...

A story like that could get her a real visit from Black Eagles and she could be sitting in an interrogation room with neural probes attached to her head... I noticed that she has gone very silent lately... I do hope she is ok.

My belief is that Gutter Press has been accurately reporting the information they have received, and it is Impetus which has framed the scene to promote their upcoming holoreel. And I'm pretty sure the enthusiastic following Impetus productions enjoy across the cluster allows them more wiggle room in many affairs than what the more cut-and-dry businesses have.

I suppose the only way to really know whether this romantic film, where the Heth's name is being shouted in the middle of the action, is obscene enough to trigger the sensors of Black Eagles operatives, is to watch it.

If this theory is true, media mogul Raker hasn't done anything actionable here. However, if we won't hear from her soon, maybe it might be a good idea to send a few petitions to the mailbox of monsieur Thou Gaterau.

That is a matter of opinion. Some folks have been 'drone struck' for far, far less than what she has done...

Instead of appealing to Thou Gatererau I think a direct appeal to Capsuleers is probably more effective! I think I will write a petition based on the suspicions we have discussed.
