If you call 700 DPS with 200s bad yeah they suck.

They do still track like crap though, so its takes stars aligning to get real damage out of them, and its pretty tricky to get fit without becoming REALLY expensive.

Tengu is the one best suited to using rails for sure now, the 100% optimal bonus is nuts compared to the tracking bonus bonus on the proteus (hint rails still track awfully with that).

Legion is a fine AHAC for the same reasons Zealot is, mainly for Scrorch being awesome.

Beams with Xray now hit much harder than scorch at the same range with similar tracking, and the option to hit further than scorch, it's really dumb.

Proteus has awesome dps. Best buffer. But lacks mids and gtfo ability. It also has one of the best passive shield tanks at around 2 to 3k dps vs SERPS guristas and can easily run 10/10s and L5s solo abeit slowly as its only got around 400 dps.

Even in cloaky nullified it can do 650/750 dps at 100k EHP.

I know nothing about the other t3s.

I call bull on this one. Even with 3 fed navy mags (using three low slots on nullified lows is suicidal but nm) you will not get better than 500-ish dps. Please share fit.

Generally a LOT of misinformation in this thread as well as some good info.

@OP: Legion is very good imo as a cloaky camper with the scan res sub and 2xsebo. It can have web-point-mwd-1300 res, or point-mwd-injector 1300 res or point-web-mwd-injector-900 res... well you catch my drift...

and you can have this baby either sit cloaked on a gate with a reasonable (for a t3) armor tanked and 300+ dps and doing all of the above or 600+ dps minus the cloak.

Its a great little ship for forcing non-consentual pvp on people and if your friends allreayd have Proteus... I believe you are very usefull as you are without the need to cross train.

Wrong sub, you use the done sub to give room for a pair of tracking comps. Something that doesn't work with as full tanked Tengu.

Plus you get drones.

@OP

Both Legion and Proteus have strengths and weaknesses.

Proteus can be a hell of a paper dps brute, but on paper only because with 5km (+/-) optimal this means a lot of commitment but also that you're trading tank for gank.
T2 fitted with no implants/links etc you can dish a nice 700/800 dps with and still keep 80/100K EHP depending on rigs/mods.

Just like any other T3 once you start throwing isk at fittings, combat boosters, implants, links this ship becomes really fun to fly.

Legion is awesome, such incredible and sexy design on top of lasers, fit Multi and you're dishing almost as much than Proteus but with a bigger tank (resist profile), load scorch and pewpew all over the place. Awesome ship.

Train both, get both in your hangar, you will not regret yet. Regrets will come next year when they're going to reduce these ships to useless.

A multi-platform spamming operation, apparently.

They can spam your customers' faxes, phone lines and e-mail addresses, while at the same time looking extremely confused doing so.

Check "their" pictures at their website. The dude & dudette on the "support" section are sporting a hilarious "WTF?" face.

Are you drugged or just bad at fitting tengus?

This just boils down on wether you are fighting T1 or T2, minmatar or gallente/caldari heavy doctrines. In general, the proteus got a shiver more damage (even applied) and an extremely long point, but can only lock out to 75, deals kin/therm, which is ****** against 90% of what you're shooting at in wormholes. The Legion lacks the superpoint, but can carry two random ewar-mods (TD, SD) or TCs, also reaches out to around 100 to 120 depending on fit. EM/Therm is usually a much more useful damageprofile aswell (everything but t2 minmatar), also - legion can have an AB-sub fitted. If it comes down to assembling a matching fleet, you'd be left with a couple artylokis and a group of beamlegions, proteus would be piloted by those guys who couldn't get an actual ship.

For PVE (I don't use T3's for peeveepee) my preferences are Tengu (it's a go-to ship that can be relied upon) and Loki (fun cuz I love projectile weps). Haven't had a Proteus in years (my first T3 death was in a Proteus out in Cloud Ring!), and though I recently trained up for Legion, I found a lot of other ships better at what a Legion does for a lot less ISK.

Indeed, there are major differences in between both ships fittings/capabilities as to their favorite prey.
Being a fan of these awesome ships I can't actually choose in between and strongly recommend training for both, having the choice in between an awesome ship and an awesome ship I always take the awesome one Lol
