Me I am no member of "Scanning Unlimited Corp" or so, scanning all incl. all ship modules????Just askin: how popular would poker be as regarded one have to showing all his cards before the fightens starts opponents lookin at them and goin changin own cards, coming back them sayin 100% confidence " i raise the bet!Oops

Me point: scanning ok as for cargo holdings..but better not scannin the fightership modules = showin ones cards, leavin no surprise anymore for opponents, i meanen.

Well, there are variants of poker where some of your cards are shown. And there are gambling card games where ALL the cards currently in play are visible to everyone (Blackjack), so card visibility obviously doesn't destroy risk.

Scanning modules take up a fitting slot - one that could be used to make one's ship better at combat. So there is a tradeoff. And ship fitting is only part of the risk equation in EVE - there are several more factors that determine whether a given battle is winnable, wise, or worthwhile.

This, and one ship scan will not reveal all the modules fitted to a ship. You'll be lucky to get 1/4 of the fit at a time, and if you're sitting there being scanned for 4 cycles of a ship scanner then you're an idiot.

Heard you there, ma'am, knowing that, but kind of poker games where players ask croupier while game still goin on for deck of cards, so as ta pick out some better cards, change some before continuing has still to be invented, and guess why?

What is the most fascinatin about scifi? one never knows for what is to await you, what to precisely expect, one just goin in, handle problems as you encounter, takin the right kind of mindsetting willingly taking some risks (thus not scanning shipmodules kind of non-scifi possibility takin away any risk takin bein essential part of scifi. Comparison to poker = "why scanning everything (takin all suspense away), the whole ships module settings? why not leave it with scanning cargo-holds only" (leave em still possibilities to count any of your remaining ammo by some scannin friend, but ok) me point made here.

But after being scanned, you can go change your fit as well, countering their counter.

If someone ever tries to scan you, you try to scan 'em right back!

It should result in limited flag but unfortunately does not. Most scanning is done by out of corp alts in my experience.

Then live somewhere where you don't have a mass of neutrals, and/or can kill said neutrals.

You can convo them in your old west gambler language and have plenty of time to blow them up while they try to decipher what you are saying.

This Isn't Poker, silly.

By that logic you would also want weapon models removed, right? They also tell you what awaits you.

Besides, in EVE, if you don't know what awaits you you need better intel.

Come to low. If someone scans you, shoot them and loot the scanner from their wreck.

understandin ya, but nah, that dont do it, tried everithin saying me i am a preacher or diplomat or tryin foolin them sayen: i just joining yr gang, is processing, go ask yr ceo now before shootin me, nothing works, those guys go first shooting ya, & go convo with you when your dead meat. Once me was meetin such module-scanner in me own station, was little guy with sweaty hands (them all are), tryin to explain to him great words spoken in some old movi: "A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do" but that little sweaty accountant-type gang-scanner (the seem to generate such sweaty-scanning-midgets in Jita out of flesh tissue of totally failed clones, some pointed outta me) did not comprehend the meanin of such words, took me 2 hours, failing, fcause.... "Look, just started some dmc here: pilots can see yr ship (look at ship optian) so, me guessing they can see either yr guns or launchers, that should be enough, yeah? Isn't that enough? seems no, those gangs setting to work some little scannin-guys buried deep in front their ships, seeing all yr modules; so any of yr deadspace modules will lose effect right away, special shieldins, they all getta know before the fightins even begun. So, wanna know me opinion: carg-hold scanning ok can live with it, but no module scanning, would be better = just havin real dmc here.

(...and damn, lets get rid of those sweaty-scanning-midgets some gangs use as some extra-module added to their ships, since them would not even qualify to end up as Soylent Green biscuits)
