Salvaging in a fleet/Salvaging as a pirate - Amarr space

So on my mission to find a corp and receiving great advice from some folk, I found out about the expanded salvaging aspect of the game in terms of...

Following someone on mission and salvaging the wrecks and splitting the profits
Buying wrecks off people and then doing as you will
Using scanning probes to find people and steal their wrecks

I don't suppose anyone is doing this in Amarr space? I already know that salvaging can be quite profitable but it sounds so much more fun than just doing missions by yourself and then spending an age pulling in the wrecks for the goods and sending the salvage drones out.

I wouldn't consider salvaging as "steeling" unless you mean also steel the cargo from the wrecks. keep an eye on your security status. Pirate

So it's perfectly fine for me to salvage someone else's wreck (which would be yellow) on the grounds I leave the goods that may be inside it?

Quite correct. It's a good way for a relative newbie to make money, and develop scanning skills.

It also generates an amazing number of tears from overblown mission runners.



Just remember, salvage, but leave the can behind, unless you are specifically looking for a fight.

However AFAIK you can't tractor someone else's wrecks, so be prepared to slowboat around.

You will also find a lot of missioners who will be happy to let you salvage behind them if you ask them politely. Visit the classical missioning hubs in Amarr space (you can use the agent finder tool) and ask from time to time in local (as long as you don't spam).

That was my initial thinking. I'd like to ask first as I don't want to tread on anyone's feet and more importantly - I don't want to make enemies in my home space! :D

You will also find a lot of missioners who will scream and shed rage tears if you salvage behind them without asking. Visit the classical missioning hubs in Amarr space (you can use the agent finder tool) and scan them down. Don't forget to post the tears and rage mails in the C&P forum.

Often in a busy system you'll get peeps saying that they have wrecks laying about if any salvages want to do their thang on them.

The ragers will occasionally turn off the safety and engage you for salvaging wrecks, the tears and confusion when Concord roll up and deprive them of their ships is rather amusing.

http://www.ironfleet.com/a-gm-on-salvage/ is a handy link to pass on to any angry customers you get while salvaging.

Asteroid belts and ice fields are often full of wrecks that the miners have no interest in salvaging after their defensive drones kill the rats. It's a reasonably common way for newbies in high-sec to earn a bit of ISK... patrol the belts, kill the very occasional pirate, and salvage way more wrecks than you kill.

Some of the really friendly folks will even turn the wrecks blue so you can loot *and* salvage.

That's perfectly acceptable and you will keep Concord protection. Having said that, sometimes the loot is too good to pass up, so take it and run to a station. Wait 15 minutes, and you're free to go back out and continue mostly unmolested.

Best Eve advice I've read in the forums, "If it's not in a station, it's not yours (or theirs)."

Loot theft can be a lot of fun. Unless it's a trap. Then it blows.

Get a prop mod. I prefer afterburners - faster than slowboat, but not so fast as you can't get a few cycles in as you fly past.

You don't have to get right next to the wreck, and with salvage tackle and good skills, you may be able to reliably salvage on a fly-by.

Can reach the income of level 3 or 4 missions pretty easily. However very feast or famine.

Salvaging player wrecks is completely legal and can bring in some decent Isk from time to time. As an added bonus, watch the tears roll when you salvage a juice T2 Blink

aint the T1 exploration frigs perfect for that kinda job? relative large cargo (400m³), scanning bonus, bonus on salvager modules and it can fly quite fast. Just get a imicus with 4 salvage drones, 2 salvagers and a probe launcher.
Afterburner/MWD helps too. Best option is that you find some 1 with a high DPS ship like a vindicator and follow the guy cause he usually finishes the missions quicker.

Yeah, t1 exploration frig would be good especially for hisec miner cleanup. But I like a destroyer + combat and salvaging skills. Big hold and combat survivability. You want to keep your (their) stuff if you run into hostiles. Also, because I like to make my own trash.
