Yes I know the Sacrilege is a missile boat. :D

Hi! I am here wondering what the point of getting a Legion over a Zealot would be. Comparing these two, they both seem to be laser ships. I've looked at different setups, and can't seem to find any significant damage increase that the Legion would have over the Zealot. I'm well aware that the Legion would have a HUUUGE tank advantage over the Zealot, though. And so yeah, I guess THAT would still make the T3 worth getting over the HAC. But the price doesn't... really... :I

Anyways, in terms of raw damage, are they basically the same thing? If that's the case, I'm more inclined to go with the Sacrilege since I'd get to choose my damage type.

Basically, what's the point of flying a laser-oriented Legion over a Zealot aside from the extra tank? :o

Hi friend. T3's have much higher resists so they catch reps much harder than HACs do. I believe you can also get 150dps more out of a Legion using the proper sub systems and fit, which is pretty substantial. I'd estimate a proper AB Zealot with faction hardeners (needed for fitting reasons) runs around 300-400mil while a Legion might cost 500-800mil, so its not a tremendous difference for quite a lot of tank and some pretty decent damage.

The real key place the difference becomes critical is when a small gang is trying to fight a much larger gang. Then every little bit of buffer and every little bit of effective repair is really important, while squeezing that extra 25% dps out means the difference between breaking the enemy and being unable to kill anything. You're paying a premium to try and counter numbers.

Think of the legion as a heavy duty zealot when fit for it. Plus you get the ability to fit a combat probe launcher for those "just in case" moments if you are willing to pass on the other electronics subs. The legion can also fit NOS/Neut and be like a Zealot/Curse hybrid.

It costs more, but has a far heftier tank and does more DPS, plus a lot of versatility that dosen't exist with the Zealot.

If you don't know, stick with a Zealot.

If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there.

Despite me agreeing with your statement, this is Newbee Q&A.

A 100% price increase on a ship thats 3-400m fitted to 800mish can be way way too much some posters here.

Yes but if you look at it like that, neither Zealot nor Legion are newbie ships.

NCQA is for questions of new players, this doesnt have to mean the answer has to be applicable now. They can ask question in relation to future plans or things they like to find out.

To clarify, I am in no way encouraging new players to fly either a Zealot or a Legion. I'm just trying to point out the differences and explain why you would pick a Legion over a Zealot. The most common places to see Legions flown are in Wormhole Alliances, which are very rich, and in certain very high SP, very rich Nullsec PvP blocs such as NC. and Pandemic Legion.

You can also take a step back and fit a Maller to have about 60% the tank and 80% the dps of a Zealot for 30mil. That would be the option for the denizens of this forum.
