Has anyone tried a vexor or thorax with 200mm's yet. I don't see all the wine threads about them being op. I haven't put one together yet so maybe its just cause ccp actually balanced them well?

Just a guess, but I doubt they have been flown that much yet. The 200 rail thorax puts out good dps and fits a decent tank, but I havent used it for anything other thank plinking yet. (its possible to fit 250s without too much trouble, fyi). I did use a 200mm ENI last night and it did pretty well - when I wasnt kiting out of range - because I failed kiting class. We will see how they do.

As an aside, the 250mm Brutix puts out between 550-700ish deeps, depending on ammo/drones. So ... yeah.

The 200mm Thorax is a blast. It sports great speed and the tracking bonus really helps with damage application. I'm still experimenting with fits, so I don't have a definite one to post, but I'll mess around a bit more and possibly update this.

They active tank nicely while kiting. Can try unorthodox stuff like target paint while at it to apply rail dps better. Anything minmatar foolish enough to approach gets decimated :)

why settle for 200mm and thorax when you can have better damage projection, more speed and more tank than Talos?

more dps (850 actually) and EHP but extremely slow and couldnt kite anything. EHP is still kinda low. i prefer the deimos due to 2.1km/s speed and the new HAC bonus. very tanky. this is your "kiter".

you can also try the navy issue brutix for more EHP (80k!) and much better tracking. anyone know if tracking speed of 0.03 is enough to hit other cruisers?

I'm glad you mentioned that. The tracking is rather low, and if you orbit in the 'Rax or Deimos your applied damage will go to ****. You have to keep at range. Also, despite the lower range and paper DPS I find I prefer the 200's due to the higher tracking and the range is just fine with them, at least so long as you're the one pointing your target.

So you'll probably have to 'keep at range' in order to have any applied damage.

all the more reason to pimp out a navy brutix =) or go for the shield Diemos which can actually kite well.

But the whole point of this thread was moreso towards active armour kiters. While I love your fits, you kind of defeated the point of the discussion.

Not really. I use both armor and shield fits on my blaster Gal cruisers now. I don't see why I wouldn't use a shield buffer on a rail fit. I sure as hell won't be trying to kite with a 1600mm plate on. As for the deimos, I am spec'd for it but I have a hard time justifying paying so much for something that I am sure to Leroy.

Since we are on the subject of sheild tanks though....ASB?
Perhaps a dual LASB rail moa?

There. Now we are fully derailed (pun intended) Its Ok. It's my thread.

Not really since the best armor kitting/sniping/ganking ships are shield fitted for a reason.

Not really any reason to not go active armour over shield as long as you stay away from resist rigs, in fact armour takes advantage of the mwd bloom bonus far better than shield.

This trades a couple of km off of optimal compared to the shield fit, but ends up with way more ehp by the time the rep runs out of fuel, goes the same speed but with a sig of 475 compared to 737, has similar cap and identical dps.

EDIT: Just realized the last 3 posts started with 'not really'. God, we're a quarrelsome bunch, are we not? Lol
