=== ExeFile.exe Memory Usage ===

I have noticed that since last patch that the ExeFile.exe is using neally double the amount of memory than before the patch;

Before Patch: 488,000K (Approx)
After Patch: 888,000K (Approx)

Is anyone else feeling the pain?

Makes using another account pointless for me....

Hmn that's odd, i'm experiencing the exact oposite my memory usage seems to have gone down, however i do use memcleaner when playing online games, it makes a big difference.

I use Game Booster myself, but it does'nt change the usage of the ExeFile.exe, it's terrible!!

Maybe this is another ATI problem?

Does anyone else have same issues?

Windows Task Manager shows exefile.exe using 899,000 K currently. I havn't checked that before so I don't know whether it has gone up or not.

970'000kb up to 1'200'000kb and 1.7GB to 2.4GB swap files...
Don't know what it took before but i know it've become worse. I'll have to put in more ram and change to 64-bit now...

Yeah, its using about 900M for my regular client and about 700M for the "lite" memory setting client.

i guess it all depends on how much is going on around you.
and you are probably right about the increased memory usage - allthough it does not affect performance it seems... (might just be some changed swapping/caching policy of the client - or even the operating system)

so not really a big issue

The client loads most assets "just in time" so you can't really compare memory usage. It will differ depending on where you are, which ships are around, what you've seen, etc. It's not that simple. This can be seen when warping into some bulk of players or towards a gate or station. Ships and stuff don't pop up because your client didn't know they were there. They pop up due to the client still having to load these assets. There's also a ressource caching check box in graphic options. Maybe you changed that if you notice a very excessive different at once - but it might as well just happen due to seeing other things, e.g. flying two missions vs. Guristas and Angels instead of two missions against Angels only.

It is if you have 2 accounts subbed but can only use one of them!

surely some errors in patch if it was half size before patch, it's not like they added anything amazing in the last patch, just bug fixes i believe?

More memory usage isn't really a bad thing.

If there is a leak then it is bad.
IF it is using more memory to improve performance then whatever.

The question is, which one.
Mine is up to 788 K I do remember at one time it used to hang around 368k though.

So is this an expected increase or not ?
CCP that question goes to you.

Just as a baseline, I just logged on to a character to check skills and he is sitting in a POS and has not moved.
So memory usage should be VERY low at this point.

The EVE client bloated up with Incarna, Prior to Incarna a high graphic client ran about 500mb of memorty, Post Incarna that jumped up to around 800mb with medium settings and CQ disabled and over a gig with CQ and high graphic settings.

This is a part of the reason it's so rough on multi-client users.

I'm just glad that I had put 8gb in my box, the problem of course is that the sweet spot for performance is 4gb so most boxes will be limited to that, The Windows 7 OS it's self eats up about 2gb leaving only 2 gb on a 64bit install and 1gb on a 32bit install, this coupled with the fact that windows 7 starts going to it's swap file at around 60% memory utilization means that even one CQ enabled client is going start madly thrashing hard drives on most systems.

Guess it's time to suck it up and get a Solid State Drive for my OS swap and EVE clients ;)

get a computer that isn't a pile of crap.

eve has been using around 1GB for me for years. because it turn on the resource cache for better performance because i have 4GB of ram.

Tedium and difficulty are not the same thing, if you don't realize this then STFU about game design.

You seem intelligent. I would like to commission you to build me a computer, and then explain to me the secrets of the universe.

I guess you didn't actually read my posts correctly you dumbas$!

The point of the post is the: I T W A S F I N E B E F O R E P A T C H

It was fine last week, and yes of-course it varied when in space depending on what was close by and in warp etc, but i could run two clients fine without any lag or freezing etc... but in station now (with Station Environment disabled) and it is sitting at 880,000k+ 'with just 1 client it is fine' but with two clients the 2nd is so laggy and its not fun to use it.

it's pretty straight forward. how much do you want to spend on the machine?

Windows 7 Home premium 32bit, AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual core, 3.3GB RAM

check if the resource cache got turned on

second - *facepalm*

the reason why you're got "3.3GB" of ram and not 4GB of ram (you physically have 4) is because you're running 32bit windows on a 64bit system. 32bit windows is limited to 3.3GB of ram.

break out your windows 7 disk and install 64bit instead of 32bit

Tedium and difficulty are not the same thing, if you don't realize this then STFU about game design.

Just suggestion but you actually have 4 gig there if not more.
IF you have the 64bit version of windows 7 you should consider upgrading to 64bit.

Makes me wonder how many other people as still running 32 bit and having issues.
