Ok the new engine trails are sexy, lasers are sexy, cynos are sexy, but something has irked me ... especially with the new misanimations....

Missles don't miss so they always hit tahts fine, but the issue is the effect is HORRIBLE, i mean seriously can't you guys just get 1 art guy on that effect for a little while to spruce it up a little the impact explosion im talking about, it looks, very... faded/dull in comparison to every effect around it, it looks out of place in a big way....

I know its too late now, but weren't the new turret effects coming this winter i thought? Especially for blaster/rails/autos/arty (as lasers already got a bit of a facelift)

I mean the gunfire looks lackluster, but the explosions are the most "wtf that doesn't look right" currently on sisi

I agree. The effects do need some fixing, because they look like sprites from Half-Life

If they reduced its size (measuring using combat overlay, its about 30KM 0_o) than it would be better. Something like 5KM is reasonable for a charge that size.

Honestly what i was hoping for was more a shockwave style effect and small explosion at impact area....

and i'm still hoping that they will someday change shields from just being an armor style shimmere to an actual off the ship shield that pulses when it gets hit... but thats just me hoping... just wish they had atleast tweaked missle explosions for winter

Wait.

Every ship in Eve has shields. You are seeing the shields HARDEN with energy, the shields themselves are invisible.

The armor shimmer is energized armor plating.

If you want a strange effect, put a carrier in triage sometime.

Oh, for what it's worth, having been here for when shield hardeners were a light blue bubble that occluded your ship, I love the current effects.

Not a diplo.

The above post was edited for spelling.

/Signed.

Old torpedo effect

How it should look like

Also, some effects could use some changes.

The shield effect is ~terribad~. And I mean, really. Basically, it's a texture (Looks like it's a 256*256 or 512*512), applied on the ship's hull. It looks horrible. This faded-out blue thing on your ship looks horrible, I don't know how to describe it :/

Missile/Turret effects really need to be updated. They perofm and look like ****.

And give us missile launchers please, I'd like missiles to actually be fired from a launcher not out of nothing.

Agreed, but consider reposting your comments to this thread:

As the graphical developers / robot cyborgs from the future are reading it and it already has a fair few good ideas in.

I suspect the graphics guys have been extremely busy doing the new shadows, ship models and textures, and of course the new nebula. Hopefully we'll get a weapons mini-expansion in a few months that will update the weapon effects INCLUDING missiles, along with the new missile turrets!

No. There is no oxygen in space, so flames are inappropriate. I would put the actual ship exploding animations on torpedo hit.

I was going to post some suggestions, but the forums ate my post. Oh well, second try.

Heat: Sphere of white-hot material, slowly dispersing and growing dimmer.

Explosive: Conventional explosion in space (Explosives have their own oxidizer in their molecular structure).

Kinetic: Nuclear shaped charge, dense jet of material hitting the target after the warhead is initiated a short distance off its hull.

EM: Nuclear pumped laser, also initiating some distance away from the target, hitting it with an intense burst of x-ray radiation.

Anyways, TL;DR: Nuclear Fireball, Fireball, Casaba-Howitzer, Lightshow.

the visibility of an explosion in space should be next to none. because there is no air for the shockwave to travel trough.
Just a bright flash would be most realistic..
