Ratting Titans still work?

Got into a discussion with a friend over ratting titans. He insists that they'd still work, although it still be silly to use one because of the price tag.

My question is this: is a Rag fully loaded with officer tracking computers/tracking enhancers, all the implants and boosters the best ratting machine? Especially with the changes in turrets, and the rag being able to use Titanium Sabot with its 20% tracking boost.

Stats from eft:

Tracking: 0.02784
Range: 51+60
Scan res: 125.2
DPS: 6188

concept: warp at 100 and blap

Disclaimer:

Yes I know ratting titans/supers is stupid. Yes I know there are cheaper ships that do almost just as well. Please discuss the concept, not the price.

The problem is that the penalty from shooting subcaps applies directly as a damage modifier. Not tracking or anything like that.

I think it would just be bad. A regular carrier, or blingy faction BS probably does just as well, for 1% of the cost.

Supercarriers are probably still king though.

Aside from the cost, it would be totally viable to drive a Lamborghini to ones minimum wage job.

Guns have a Signature Radius, if they are shooting things that are much smaller than the Guns Radius they get a penalty , that and crappy Tracking makes them ineffective against Sub Caps.

Also a scan res of 5 makes them lock super super slow.

ahh must have missed the scan res of the guns. Thanks.

also with the sensor boosters it had scan res of 125 (with a concord cloak on) so actually the lock time wasn't too bad. About the same that a super has

Look at the description of the titan again also. All titans now have a damage penalty when shooting sub-capitals. They added it because they were stupidly effective at insta-popping sub-caps when tracking fit.

Turrets fitted to this ship will do reduced damage to small targets

Before the nerfs ratting titans were pretty common in some places.

In my opinion the penalty for shooting smaller targets can be removed, now after they changed the guns itself.

To answer your question, despite any of the responses above, YES. Ratting Titans ABSOLUTELY work wonders. I swear it.
