So... not sure how many people use the Voice Font system in the EvE Menu, but i recently tried getting my BF who subscribed to the gaem to role a female character too (the guys look terrible in this game)...

well, i saw this voice modifying thing in the menu and told him he should try it out.... i was less than whelmed...

Would it be at al possible for CCP to implement an improved version of the voice modifier, if only for guys who play girl characters can use the modifier and sound like GIRLS/WOMEN instead of nasally 12 year olds?

I reject your assertion that male avatars are uncool.

Mr Wamphyri here does not exactly support the fact that male avatars in EVE can be sexy... Look at mine. 'Nuff said.

I actually think for the most part the female avatars in this game are the ones that are uncool. Aside from the goddess I created on the left a lot of the female avatars seem rather generic whereas the males of each race look fairly distinct and different from each other.

Anyway this has nothing to do with the topic so sorry about that.

K... you asked your bf to play eve as a female and use female voice software...

Your story is so full of holes it looks like a minmatar hull.

Just tell the truth your are the guy playing a female avi and you're looking for the voice software for yourself, simple.

Unfortunately, that's as good as it gets -- voice-changing software functions by changing the pitch/tone of the sound. Our voices carry a number of different factors -- condition of vocal apparatus, chest-size (not bust size -- you in the back, quit snickering), the speaker's age and so forth -- that software is unable to duplicate accurately.

You might, with external software and a lot of tweaking, get something that sounds close, but I'm afraid it's nasally-twelve-year-old-town for the foreseeable future.

I can't get rid of my darn signature!  Oh, wait....

Same. How can you say males are ugly...we're quite dashing /posses

Also...why does this game have voice modification? I mean...seriously, that's just WRRRRRRRRRRRRRONG (and creepy).

i never knew there was a voice modification program in EVE! Shocked

i tried all the male to number/female and i got to say the creepy ones seemed a little buggy*distorted voice* or i just needed to say more, and the OP was right about the 12 year old girl sound for male to femaleSad

The M2F modifier does a remarkable job at making me sound like a woman.

Sometimes I turn it on and speak outloud just to make myself aroused.

...

What.

Don't look at me like that.

There's enough creepyness in the world as it is without dudes who play chicks in MMOs and try to pass themselves off as real women in voice comms.

I remember years ago, a friend of mine found a voice mod program that actually did a good job. He proceeded to distribute it through our close circle, and we started trolling the living hell out of friends in ventrilo. Several of us could sound exactly like women simply by imitating the stereotypical "gay" voice and letting the mod handle the pitch, and the rest were subtly altering their voices to sound off but be tricky to put your finger on it.

It was quite funny, but let me say, it is *very* weird to hear yourself speaking like a woman, and after about 5 minutes of it, you kind of have to stop. Its funny for a while, then its just... yeah. Though our friends reactions were hilarious.

I once imagined the greatness of a voice to voice translator, that reads your words and intonations and translates them into any chooses voice instead of modifying your voice in an attempt to make it sound differently.

But alas, while voice to text and text to voice programs exist, they are not yet developed beyond the point of the uncanny valley. Such technology would be great for any RPG, MMO or solo. Think of every NPC with their own generated voice and voice actors for major NPCs giving the additional oomph only trained humans can create.
