Three expansions later, these new ship hulls are still MIA.

Navitas

Crucifier

I believe the model of the Crucifier, minus textures, was even showed off in full in Fanfest 2013. Not to mention the redesigned Heron hull mentioned in the CSM minutes which has apparently been sucked into a black hole.

Doood... entire expansions are MIA, like the full blown INCARNA... so a few AWOL ships hulls is far from critical. Disappointing, sure, but it's OK... it's not like you were promised a chance at a new Guardian Vexor or something. Blink

And CCP is looking for Senior Concept Artist. I wonder if it's related somehow..

Don't companies usually own the rights to whatever work their employees produce, including concept art?

Yup, though you can generally use stuff for a portfolio as long as you're not selling it commercially. In general CCP keeps a lot of senior positions open on its site pretty much constantly. This isn't terribly uncommon in the Game Industry and doesn't indicate anything of note.

As to the OP, yeah but the fact that a model was shown off at Fanfest says they're working on it. Often concept art is produced (and shown off) well ahead of any intent to turn it into a real thing in-game and not everything that gets even very detailed concept art is going to make it into the game, as evidenced by the existence of two versions of the Imicus. It's just that, a concept, and not all concepts survive production.

Maybe they finally realised that making every ship in EVE symmetrical isn't making the game better.

Fanfest should come with a little not as you enter Iceland "Nothing shown during this event is guaranteed to ever come to be"

It's really sad to see CCP still after all this time doing the "release, move on, release, move on"
I thought the whole point of "themed expansions" was to go back and cover an area of the game each time and iterate any features which fell under that theme.

Are we really going to have to put up with weak expansions like Rubicon until they finally have Sov 2.0 ready?

It makes me wonder how much of a resource drain we're getting because of Dust and Valkyrie when we have designs and models that have been in such a drawn out process of production. This is the first expansion I've seen where there doesn't seem to be any rework of old model in need of an update. I don't count the marauders since they were already redone and are simply having moving bits.

We are getting some great looking SoE ships but if we're ever to eventually bring all the ship models in Eve up to modern standards we can't keep dragging along at one redo per expansion. And if CCP can't get one frigate model textured and ready to go in 6 months, then something is wrong.

Maybe their artists all got fed up with the job because their concepts got scrapped time and time again?

I, too, have been wondering about these hull redesigns.

I see what you did with the Imicus links. Clever. Cool

Time to hire that person that did the 4 hull submissions that eventually became the Tier 3 battlecruisers... unless, of course, another company had to the good sense to already hire said gifted person. D'OH. Roll
