Define: Solo-mining.
Is that like using 4 or 5 alts- 1 Orca, 1 freighter and 2 or 3 hulks?

I don't know what solo mining is

That would be rediculously inefficient. You need at least 4 Hulks and an Orca pilot to make that worth doing. Otherwise just put your 4th pilot in another Hulk. Now An Orca, a Freighter, and 5 Hulks. Or even 10 Hulks. Thats a 1 Man mining op.

Damn, of course you are right. I was thinking maybe he doesn't have a system that can run half a dozen EVE clients for solo mining

Mining alone, and watching lasers do the job is really annoying, so I joined Public Mining Fleet for boost and hanging around with people.

It is a great idea, and I recommend to other new players also, I cant invite others.

To get there in Amarr i needed 19 jumps, and man it was nice ride untill some guy in Incursus targeted me in my venture.

Followed me for 6 jumps, but venture is a fast little one so I made there in one peace this time.

It was really fun for a beginner like me to experience some "action", 2bad I didnt checked who was him, cuz I was like Waaaarp please all the time xD...

1 day untill retriever Big smile

Man, lost my first ship today.

I had retty 8 days, but yesterday I started a little on ice mining.

Fitted barge with max yield, then after 3 hours of mining first attempt from catalyst pilot was fail and he got Concorded.

Lucky me as I am not afk miner so I noticed him in time.

But this one today was using bumping tactic, 4-5 sec before I warped out so I lost retty and the pod.

I believe he had a friend in mackinaw, cuz that mackinaw was following me like 4k meter above me so he jumped

with catalyst right on top of me.

Aligning to station was not enough, I should orbit the ice but its 2late now.

Retriever not for me any more, yes I did purchased another but will not use him. Going for procurer and tank him max as I can.

Not going to make it simple for gankers, I hate afk/bots in games also, but I am not one just because I mine.

And yea, giving ISK to someone who have utopia in his mind so that I can mine in peace, not going to happen.

That guys are doing their part, and they are spicing the game for minersLol. Dont akf, ok but I will not pay you for that.

This is why I mine and otherwise operate in null sec. I actually see attempted ganks less. Partly due to traffic and eve more so due to intel knowing they are coming 5+ jumps out.

mining is a horrible choice for new players.
It is horrible isk even for new players.
It is very dull.
It lets you know about virtually no game mechanics.
All the miners are afk so no real community either.

Many new players think that they can't get into pvp /FW /exploration /wh's until much later in the game and they are very wrong, If people want to mine sure idc but telling people it is a good entry to eve is poor advice.
Also most HS corps are poorly run with little to no social life and you might as well be playing a single player game.

OP if you want to mine then you will want to run some mining missions as people have mentioned because at some point you will want to reprocess your ore and u will want a npc corp that doesn't charge you tax for this. Other than that their are some good sites you can google for basic mining stuff.
Mining with boosts from other players is much much better than solo mining if you must do it.

There are far too many pilots mining nowadays especially since the ice field changes. I would advise choosing another career/s but it is up to you.

As u all can see, I moved down under to -0.0 and joined with people who is really helpfull and most important to me I met them in my language channel and I know them.

Mining ice again but, a little better ice and with a nice boost all day.

Whole new way of living in null, but I will get familiar with it eventually.

Mining in hi-sec after loss of first ship was turning me in paranoid freak with d-scan refreshing all the time.
