CCP Can Make This Work

By doing two things:

  1. Creating several new rare ships for the purpose rather than tarnishing the classic ones, and
  2. Asking SOMER Blink to purchase those ships. SOMER Blink is a for-profit, fer gawd sakes - a rich one - and they're going to make bigtime isk on those ships. They for damm sure can afford it, and by purchasing them, they'll more or less earn them rather than getting a big wet kiss from CCP.

If CCP does both these things, I'm happy.

Now this might not be the only solution, but I think it's smart at this point to come up with possibilities rather than just moan and complain. It's safe to say that CCP gets it by now. If you've got a different solution, then knock yourself out - this is the place.

Literally upon further review . . .

CCP decided pretty much exactly along the lines of my proposed Step #1. I still think SOMER Blink should purchase those ships, though, for the reasons stated above.

Wouldn't it be more fair if they just had an EVE lottery, where everyone had one ticket per account?

And that in order to win you had to apply for it to prevent the ships from going to someone who didn't want them?

Looking to talk on VOIP with other EVE players? Are you new and need help with EVE (welfare) or looking for advice? Looking for adversarial debate with angry people?

Yes. How's that for a one-word answer? In fact, I've been appealing to CCP in some of the current major threads to consider a trickle-up model for disseminating rare collectibles, rather than a rain-down approach, as follows:

Quote:
SOMER Blink has more isk than Jita, and doesn't need free slag from CCP. It rubs players the wrong way, and for good reason. Make S'BLink pay for them - lord knows they can afford it.

And consider a trickle-up approach rather than a raining-down approach to high-value desirables - goes over better with us humble poor pilots.

Who wants to bet SOMER's alts end up with a lot of these prizes? Just because someone is deemed trustworthy in the past, doesn't mean they will remain so in the future if the pie is worth taking.

Another reason to go for the lottery idea. If CCP took SOMER Blink's trustworthiness temperature before they started this thing, they'd find that it's just about at "death warmed over" among the pilot population.

Rightly or wrongly, that's what people think about S'Blink. Somer Blink might be as ethical as the Amish, but it doesn't matter - pilots' perception of them does.

It's ok though because now the blink alts will get some different unique ships so all is well.
