We can't think of real content so lets just favor one group of players and give away rare ships. CCP spent all Alliance tournament talking about how ships are really destroyed. I guess the small print was until they decide to play favorites and give them away.

The Gold Magnate made me feel like decisions in EVE have consequences. Now i feel like CCP is turning away from that with many recent decisions, and it is making me worried.

This somehow makes me suspect that a former EA executive had a hand in this.

I'm telling you, once EA (or anything related to EA) gets their hands on something, you can expect that thing to rot and become ruined.

The idea of dead and rare ship reintroduction is stupid. Reintroduction through player driven profit site is even more stupid.
For **** sake, CCP, you have more than 500 V3 skins that most likely never will be used with current development speed.
We have Tempest Tribal Issue with Starkmanir skin? Add random minmatar ship with Starkmanir skin and give it as unique prize - and everyone will be happy, including collectors.
I was pissed off when I saw how you "handled" relatively unique rookie ships last time at Gamescom but now I don't even..

3+2 new copies of rare ships is not going to ruin the game.

Personally I look forward to taking a shot at winning a Guardian Vexor.

Hell Eve-Vegas itself is a player-organized event. Why not ***** and moan about CCP sending devs out to support it and spending valuable money and time that could be used developing features!

Roll

CCP's prizes for player-run events in the past have been petty things like PLEX. If you cannot recognize the difference between something like CCP giving an organizer of an RL meetup a handful of timecodes and literally driving players towards a gambling site with the hopes of winning a prize - and the chance of winning those prizes increasing the more ISK they spend - all in exchange for that gambling site giving away petty prizes at EVE Vegas, I can't help you.

Also, you realize that EVE Vegas is an extremely expensive event to organize, right? According to Zapa, it's $19k in deposits and $40k after all is said and done. It has never so much as broken even.

Wow CCP.....Every now and then you come up with an idea that supercedes all others in stupidity and arrogance. You have reached yet another low.

Does the dept that dreams this stuff up have such staff turn-over that the new staff was not around to experience the rage from 2 summers ago?
When you are pissing off so many people from so many areas of the game, maybe it it is time to rethink the concept.

And as others have stated, this is the start of a slippery slope down to lotteries for gold ammo, implants, and ships, with the cash going to a player-run entity, with all profits into the hands of that entity.

CCP giving half a trillion isk worth of ships to a company with no affiliation except that it is making RL money off CCP's IP...seems legit.

Yes, I have no reservations about the CCP/Somer relationship. No, Sir. None what-so-ever.

I have to agree with many in this Threadnaught.

Spawn new unique ships. Somer is fine for auctioning them off.

Please dont reintroduce the past. Let it keep it's glory (unless of course you hand them straight to me in which case I'll gladly accept them to decorate my hangar. Cool)

I can see the difference, but CCP gave prizes to the Big Lottery for their anniversary. I can't think of other examples off the top of my head, but that one is pretty similar in terms of a money-generating gambling site. Where was the outrage then?

I'm not sure what the cost of running the EVE Vegas event has to do with anything, but thanks for the info.

My corps been around sense EvE was in Beta, and we also have the third Oldest character in game as a member, and he still plays!! Maybe we could get some dev favoritism as well.

Actually I find the whole SOMER Blink involved more appaling than the reintroduction of old ships. Granted I wasn't around back then and can see the lore to it but giving a player run deal the opportunity to make **** ton more money than they already do is ridiculous.

There were (and are) still thousands of Apotheosis on the Market.

This issue is a completely different paradigm.

If you don't understand that, you just have not been playing that long or something.

Stick to your guns CCP, these things are just pixels.

Some of you need to take a break from EVE, find a girl (or guy, whatever) and "get some".

it would have been better to just introduce new ships why the same ones??.. if this does happen you can voice your opinions in game in two ways, the players who will win these ships will self destruct instantly! or you should go out hunting to the people that won it and explode the ship for them! providing they undock..

Having seen the success of providing prizes for events in other games I can endorse that idea without problem, but bringing back event/unique ships is bad form. Create a new event ship that can be used for a year for multiple events. One ship a year shouldn't be too difficult.

Let's face the truth. There will be only 2 Goldmagnates and 4 x Guardian Vexors. At the end ISK is the deciding aspect. Some ultraspacerich guys/collectors (chribba, entity etc.) will buy almost all tickets and win, or the average pilot wins one of those rare ships and sells it for some billions (trillions) to another superspacerich collector. Finally, the ships are as rare as before, and will collect dust in hangars like the others. So will the Goldmagnates. Never seen again... Lol

Do you not realize that this would usher in the era where CCP hands out once unique ships to third parties like AOL Trial-Disk at the supermarket?

This is another spit on the face at the "collecting profession." When I started playing EVE, I loved the aspect of having ownership over these beautiful pixel ships with definite quantities in the market. There are those who spent thousands of hours to accumulate wealth (or spent thousands of dollars in cash for PLEX purchase), just to own these truly unique ships. Now that CCP is planning to print these unique ships like AOL Trial disks, preexisting owners will incur substantial loss as they see the market value of these ships go down.

Collecting unique items and seeing my "pixel investments" grow brought me ultimate joy years ago. Ever since the advent of handing out once-unique-items freely by CCP Marketing department, now, I am not even sure what to collect. I play this game with constant fear that whatever I bought will see their market value plunge due to CCP minting more ships.

I stopped collecting any "unique" items that were issued from 2009 and up. Please do not touch old unique ships that have standings in EVE history.

Tired line is tired.. I got some last night and this morning and still find this to be dumb. Should I have went for a third time would that have changed my attitude towards them doing something ridiculously dumb like this?
