Integrate a timer in the cloaky module where if the client does not send a "user" command to the server node after an approximate time, it changes the back ground of their name in local to yellow stripes (caution tape markings)

Cloak checks every 30min if the ship has made contact within the last 20min which leaves some inaccuracy when trying to tell when the players went afk

1. You can't hunt cloaked ships
2. You can't blind, ie them by kicking cloaked ships off the server or otherwise

To start with: AFK Cloaking Collection Thread
There are already hundreds of discussion on this subject, please use on of those to pose your ideas instead of creating a new thread.

But I will note, almost all of the threads are about removing risk, plain and simple; there is no compromise or any other benefit to the cloaked themselves, all it does is remove the uncertainty for all the other individuals in system. Low / Null space is a place that is intended to be dangerous, granted the 30min timer isn't totally secure, the fact still remains.

Isn't that the purpose of the cloak? To be able to see people and get into position to pounce while they are unaware?

Just Stop.

Use the Search Function - These posts are a waste of bandwidth.

The point of cloak is to either protect yourself from hostile action or to ambush unsuspecting targets. The recon ship class are specifically made to sneak behind enemy lines and psychologically antagonize enemies. Hunting down targets of opportunity or working in conjunction with other ships to provide support.

Regular ships can hunt, but not while cloaked. To move they must first uncloak.

What am I trying to say? How do you fix a problem, when there is no problem?

Yet another begging post. Can you just write: I want free stuff, next time? Free intel, free isk, whatever. Roll

Really? Again!?!

If one loan cloaky in local keeps you docked up what are you people doing outside HiSec?

Even if they are a cyno alt why haven't you got a local response fleet up and running?

Why does CCP have to change a working mechanic to protect your ISK stream from a very minimal threat?

Unless I misunderstand the op, I'm completely with him on this proposed change because that wouldn't be making the situation worse at all. /sarcasm

If after 30 minutes you became "afk" flagged to everyone in local and the system then checks 30 minutes later to see if you've made any user input in the last 20 minutes that gives the cloaky a whole 30 minutes of being AFK flagged to everyone in local whist being able to act.

So the OP's change would allow cloakies to fool people into coming out of their hiding places in order to cov ops hot drop them. So if this change was implemented there would be a spate of nullbear deaths followed by everyone ignoring the afk flag due to it being meaningless. There would probably be quite a large outcry too, considering the waste of dev time etc.

Is this a terrible thread that goes against the OP's supposed objective due to lack of thought or is it a stealth "give me moar cloaky kils" thread?

To summarise, OP wants to remove all uncertainty and risk by having the game mechanics flat out tell him when a hostile in system is a threat or not

and he wants this for zero effort on his behalf, and with perfect reliability, and with no other changes which would balance it

Bad OP. Go sit in the naughty corner for 30 days. The naughty corner is highsec, in this case.

This timer would be good on mining lasers, too.

Create a 10 minutes timer that triggers the self destruction if no user commands have been issued within that time frame.

Autopiloting does not count as user input.

Win for everyone. Roll
