Simple and direct, which is the best BS for L4 missions right now:

Navy Scorpion
Navy Raven
Rattlesnake
Dominix

Most of my skills are in drones and missiles, so no gunboats now.

It depends greatly on your definition of "best".

Dominix, Rattlesnake, RNI, SNI, Machariel, TFI, Golem, Tengu are all "best" given reasonable assumptions.

More relevantly, the RNI, SNI, and Golem are all essentially equivalent. The difference in your mission completion times will be negligible.

The Dominix and Rattlesnake go in a different group. They also do pretty similar DPS to eachother, though the RS is generally thought to be superior given enough SP (and especially since you say you have good Missile skills, but not Gunnery).

Which group (RNI/SNI/Golem vs Dominix/Rattlesnake) is better depends on the mission, your skills, and how much attention you're willing to pay.

Machariel, Tengu, and a few very specialised ships (e.g. a Shuttle for Recon) go into a third high-intensity group where you trade risk, attention-span, bling, and SP for faster blitz times.

I've tried the Armageddon but i think the domi and rattles are better with drones and easier to fit.

As for a rattle i see a lot of people talking about passive fitting it, I have some experience with passive fits but I really think that the rattle needs to be active tanked, unless I'm not seeing something important about it. Any thoughts?

The Rattlesnake can passive-tank - in fact, I don't think there's a single ship in the game that can passive-tank better - but it's probably more efficient to active-tank it, which won't require as many slots, leaving more room for things like omni tracking links, drone damage amps, and offensive rigs. Rule of thumb: the more you can crank up your outgoing DPS, the less incoming DPS you need to worry about.

It means a more active play-style, of course, and you give up easy mode for probably more ISK per tick.

The Raven's often the more preferred ship for missioning for the same reason people keep saying the Machariel's the One True Mission Runner: its bonuses are all geared to offensive firepower, while the Navy Scorpion and the Rattlesnake trade some of that for their massive shield resistance bonuses. Effectively, it means that the Scorpion and Rattlesnake are safer but less efficient mission-runners.

The Dominix has been rejiggered to a pure drone boat, really, with the tracking and range bonuses to sentry drones putting it a cut above all the rest of the first-class drone boats. However, it can't fit any missile launchers.

Isn't the Typhoon / Fleet Typhoon meant to be good too now?

No.

With Precision Cruise missiles, a couple of T2 Rigors and a T2 Flare, even without a Target Painter, Frigates go down in one volley, Elite Frigates in three at the maximum. Same thing for the Cruisers and Elite Cruisers. That's maybe not full damage, but close enough for efficient mission running times.

With Fury Cruise Missiles and the same rig setup, you apply full damage to Battlecruisers and Battleships.

You like micromanaging your drones and missiles, fine, fly Rattlesnake. I got better things to do.

Not sure how you can even say this. With my half decent skills and Caldari BS 5 I get the same eft DPS on a RNi and a SNI, off the top of my head it was round 855. On the SNI I get better tank and can fit 2 x TP.
So while looking at stats in eft with the bonuses, the RNI looks better, give it a bash in game and you will be very surprised.

My NM will outperform any missile boat against EM weak NPC. Mach works great in anything that you don't need to do kinetic damage.

To the OP, if you don't mind drone management and being stationary the RS is a great ship.
The best ship is situational and is based on what people prefer to fly. I use a NM, mach and SNI, sometimes when I am feeling like a slwo night I will use the RS. Others prefer drones and MJD.. best is to get on the test server and see which one you like best.
