Drone Damage Amps

Many months ago we were told that CCP was bringing out a whole pile of new drone modules including damage amps. What they decided in their wisdom was to NOT bring out faction damage amps. Now as I am sure the rest of you will agree, Drones like guns and missiles deserved damage and other mods yet why oh why are there no easily available and affordable faction damage mods(just like missiles and guns). The officer variants are so rare to be seen in Jita that it appears more likely to see a prancing Unicorn and thus the present situation leaves drone pilots in a "give them jam tomorrow "mindset. I for one would like to see CCP address this, what say you ?

Do we really need to improve on the Ishtar/Dominix with 800 DPS out to 90+km optimal?

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Yes please, my Rattlesnake doesn't do enough damage yet. I want to break 1K DPS with just drones.

They are only any threat in groups and the DPS still sucks and as for range, remember that sentries DON'T move. So yes we DO need an even playing field. The adding of faction damage mods ftw :)

Faction DDA's with a ~54% damage bonus would be a bit much.

Ergo, we need better drones, say T3 drones? Tech II Mark II? A Heavy Drone with Two Tractor Beams that tractors two Sentry Drones around?

Not sure. If CCP decides in the process, that it is necessary to nerf some hulls to compensate, you basically exchange a decent hull with an attractive bling fit and end up as a big lossmail.

I guess I prefer they iterate on drones first, before we start to think about more bling for ships.

Remove standings and insurance.

A rate of fire drone rig would also be nice, just like all the other gun and missile platforms :)

agree with the ROF rig, also like to see drone implants! I thought there were faction drone mods? tho ill admit they dont seem to ever be on the market ;)

May I also take this opportunity to mention that there is a channel in EVE for Rattlesnake love called The Rattlesnake.

Can you imagine how angry all the Tengu pilots would be? :P

Although something interesting has been brought up, there's no drone implants. Now that is something I would like to see as well. More / different drone rigs would be cool too. Needs to stay balanced though, I think drones at the moment are very competitive, compared to other damage systems.

Guns with a faction damage mod atm only do ~2% more DPS than than guns with a T2 damage mod.

Thus, I don't think faction drone damage mods should result in much DPS incrase for drone boats - maybe about 6% when using 3 of them.

Or, we can look at other faction mods as a guide:
does a Fed navy/Serpentis EANM give better resists? No, but Amarr/Ammatar/Khanid do

I'd add Amar rnavy drone damage mods -> same damage as T2 mods, but lower fittings.

Then I'd add Fed navy drone damage mods -> to get your drones 2% more DPS compared to T2s.
Maybe the same for shadow serpentis - while rebalancing angel and serpentis (serpentis is more "gallente" than angel, so I'd swap the drone bays of the draml and dare, the cyna and vigi, and the mach and vindi)


Also.. can we stop with the T1 meta 0 drops of drones.... and start some meta 1-4 drone drops :) ?

I made a quick EFT Tengu fit with different kinds of BCUs.

T1 (+7% dmg & 7.5% RoF) : 751 dps
T2 (+10% & 10.5% RoF) : 886 dps
Caldari Navy (+12.5% & 10.5% RoF): 943 dps
Estamel (+15% & 10.5% RoF) : 1002 dps

The increase between T2 and CN is about 6%. The increase in actual DPS between top end officer and T2 is about 13%. It doesn't seem that much really.

When you put that in to perspective though and I apply similar numbers to a Rattlesnake fit, it means a volley from the Garde IIs will essentially do almost 500 dmg more when using officer mods.

Anyway, like you said, it's not THAT much of an increase, but still considerable.

While the dramiel and daredevil swapping bays would be a step forward, the cyna and vigi swapping bays would be redundant and the vindi and mach switching would be a step backwards.

They should be an immediate concern, they should be done right after reviewing

  1. The drone UI
  2. The drone mechanics, including assignments
  3. The drone base numbers
  4. The drone boat bonuses
  5. All ships' bay sizes and bandwidth
  6. The T1/T2 drone mods
