ok, as most people have found out, it seems that CCP have decided to deem assisting drones while the ship is within a POS's force field and exploit as there is "No risk to the users ship at all"

Drone "Exploit" Warning

this is not true and must be re-looked at, this decision has only come because CCP has shown bias towards a certain group of players.

the point i am trying to make here is that CCP made a rash decision on this matter without looking at this properly.

  • Drones are the only weapon system which are vulnerable to being destroyed without targeting the player's ship making them vulnerable.
  • There must be a ship outside the shields for the drones to be assisted to in order to them to engage
  • POS gunners can also sit inside a pos shield's while not being targeted why is this any different?

the fact that this decision came so quickly after an engagement between two nullsec entity's (one side using this so called "exploit") only proves that CCP is taking sides with one group as this is nothing more then a defence strategy, yet there are still players ships being exposed to the hostiles.

"they only banned it because Goons complained"

Really? It's a bullshit mechanic, no matter who uses it, or who it's used against.

Awful.

Surely being able to have your entire fleet go AFK inside a pos shield, while still maintaining full-dps through 'assisting' a well tanked proteus, is wrong.

and how so is that? because you panic and are unable to target the drones and kill them? its a simple tactic to defeat this, it is not like the drones are invulnerable and shooting you.

you have two options when facing this

  1. Shoot the drones
  2. Shoot the person who the drones are assisted to

its not that hard to counter

and your making it sound like it is impossible to counter this tactic, as i stated in the previous post, there is an easy way to counter this, just if your FC's are going to be smart or try to go out, lose fleets and then complain to CCP saying that everything that kills you is overpowered. if your going to say that this is overpowered then the same should be said to pos gunning , because its not like that persons ship is in any danger, its inside the pos. ohh wait, you can shoot the guns and incap them to remove the DPS they deal...

Firstly, not a Goon, never have been.

Secondly, the ability of a single ship to direct a functionally infinite amount of other ship's dps is absurd. Yes, you can shoot the drones. Yes, you can shoot the person they are assigned to (oh, you mean the cheaters dropped in triage on top of the uber tanked Proteus? ). But that does not change the fact that the ships used for it were never at risk.

If you want to deliver dps, you should not be able to do it without putting your ships on the field, simple as that.

I'd love to hear more about your whole "Grr, Goons" theory though.

It's easier to counter this tactic than it is/was to counter grid-shaping (dunno if still possible), yet we all know who invented AND used this to the max.

So complaining about one and still using another exploit seems a bit wrong, no?

Yet, it screws the concept of the game, but the question is with quite some imbalance on various ends, why is this so bad in particular, it's only an element of defense, not like you could hot-drop the enemy with that thing ^^

Posting on my main, because not giving a f-word about like or not :)

well im trying not to get all "goons are at fault here", your the one who assumed i was blaming goons for this, just stating this first.

secondly, by the point your trying to make of infinite amount, there is still a fixed amount of people you can assist , it is not like you can have 1000 people (4 fleets) of people assisting to one person, you can only assist drones to the person in your fleet.

next; your drones still have to be on grid, you have to burn outside the pos shields to deploy the drones, it is not like you can drop drones inside the pos shields. if that were the case, then yes this would've been an exploit, however the drones are outside the pos shields and are targetable. thus meaning that the ship was as risk when dropping drones. after which the drones are at risk. remember drones are the only weapon platform which are vulnerable

Whilst I agree this mechanic is stupid, can we not forget about POS gunnery? I actually prefer this mechanic to gunning due to the fact it promotes cooperation amongst players rather than one person firing a dickstar's weaponry.

to everyone else in this thread, this is a nulli crapunda poster crying about getting a warning about using an exploit and getting caught and he thinks CCP are favoring BL for reporting them. This also will come back around to the doomportal, which isnt an exploit, unlike sitting in a pos shield with your drones outside of it.

to the OP, your alliance sucks, you guys should evac before you get reset by ncdot.

Yeah, I can read between the lines, thanks.

The rest of your argument fails to counter a simple question. Why should you be able to apply dps without putting your ship at risk on the field?

Additionally, this also takes care of the "assign fighters while in pos shield" exploit as well, and about time.

Shooting drones won't do you much good if the entire fleet can be inside the POS shield right next to a hangar array. They can, at that point, release a functionally infinite number of drones which makes destroying said drones a less than viable counter to say the least.

Really, where's the flaw in CCP's logic here?

The ships assisting the drones aren't at any risk, the ship they are assisted to can just be Target Painting targets from the other side of the POS from where the attackers are and can easily have enough remote assistance to make it nearly impossible to kill.

POS guns on the other hand can't be replaced in-combat once disabled, only repaired which is risky, and there's a finite amount of them that can be deployed at a single POS at one time. Plus POS gunning is an intended mechanic where as drone assisting from within a POS shield is not, as CCP have just made clear by declaring this an exploit.

While they're at it, remove overview and target broadcasting so we can have a really bad 1st person shooter.

Why?
The point of the mechanics in question is that you should not be able to assist people while hiding in a POS. This exploit means you can assist people while hiding in a POS. There is nothing to “re-look at” — only a circumvention of mechanics that needs to be patch out, and until then it's an exploit. Simple.

No. It only proves that their implementation had gaps that need to be filled in a future patch.

I wonder what N3 trash are smoking to think that their exploiting is perfectly valid gameplay. Be glad they didn't ban everyone involved in that fleet and instead made an announcement. Remember, you are the same babbies that cried when you lost a few ships to doomportal.
