Cyno effect... ummm ... CCP please take note

FC: enemy fleet jumping in!

timer at 0% for half an hour cuz the effects take to much from the node


oh yeah great idea....the effects look great, but i don't think it will be good for the node/peoples their PC's

That a client side effect will cause node lag is but a common misconception, actually.

(That being said, I still think the current effect on sisi is awesome :P)

On the jump out effect, that bolt of light that whooshes off into the distance - is the direction of that flash fixed relative to the orientation of the ship, or does it just go in one set direction?

From the YouTube videos I've seen of it, it seems to go sideways from the ship.

EITHER: a) make sure it always goes forward (according to the orientation of the jumping ship), or b) make the flash go a constant direction (such as solar north) so that a capital fleet jumping out will all shoot off in the same direction, instead of all over the place.

Wouldn't it be even better if it's the direction of the target system? Would bring 2 positive aspects: 1) whole fleet "whooshes" in same direction. 2) An observer can determine the rough direction the fleet is heading (=active intelligence gathering)

Also to the cyno staff, FOR FUTURE ITERATION - not winter. An idea was brought up in one of the chats. Since you are making one effect to rule them all currently, how hard would it be (in the future) to make them racial.

example -

caldari ships have blue effects.
gallente - green
minmatar - red
amarr - yellow.

Right now just get the effect with the hammer of Thor thing going on with tons of lightning and make it prettier later on.

just bumpign this to the top. Saw the new effects in a youtube video. Looks much better on the timing. great job.

when you jump in the effect happens at the same time the ship actually appears. i dont know if you can delay it anymore or not but hey it looks good.

As for the sound can you make it similar to the original?

Why Can't I have a picture signature.

Also please support graphical immersion, bring back the art that brought people to EvE online originaly.

Agreed. The first, and only time I've ever seen the original Cyno effect was the first, and only time I've ever seen a Titan in-game (not big into null). The vision of it was so gloriously impressive, awe inspiring and just superb.

I have not seen an effect yet that even remotely matches the original cyno effect. Please CCP, bring it back.

I came here to say this. This would really improve the immersion of this effect, having a fleet of cap ships jumping in random directions to the same destination doesn't make much sense, and the combined effect of them jumping together would look really cool.

Otherwise the video i saw of the effect looks great, and I much prefer it to either of the old effects.

i agree, Make them racial Colored...


I like the Orange but i would rather see it blue for everyone if not racial color.

Also when the ship is jumping out, and your ship beams off... when it hit the system "edge" Make that flash bigger or more bright. Yaya startrek ;p

also when it hits the edge of the system have it make a cool thunder sound. or show lightning cracking space time!

also play with the thunder sound. think in real life how light moves faster than sound, show the flash and then the sound should be like BOOM.

My first thoughts were that i may need to change my pants upon witnessing the cyno 'jumping out' visual and sound effect, to then only be immediately disappointed upon hearing the 'jump in' sound effect, i want my almighty "CRACK-BOOOM-YES-YES I DID JUST DO THAT!" thought, feeling and smile on my face not a "Is that it?".

While the visual effects are better, the more and more i watch it, i still see the same overused jump effect we have now with just a little lightning and an energy blob blasting in the direction of the system and a shock wave thrown in there.

Edit:

Whats the deal though, why are you so persistent on using the same effect with a few tweaks? I think after 3-4 years we could do with a little more information without the word lag being used.

Keep in mind though it was the first time you saw a cap jump. You never forget your first and it'll always be the best to you...even if it only lasted 2 seconds.

Sorry but it is still a poor relative of the original. It's basically now a smartbomb effect.
