Yea what's up with that? I have a 902,000m3 hold space at level 3 skill. You guys realize that a container ship can hold a little bit less than that and are nowhere near as big. You're looking at somewhere between 600 and 700 thousand m3 on a large container ship that sails in the ocean!!

Container ships don't have warp drives radiation shielding, pressure compartments defense systems sub light speed engines etc. I don't know OP you didn't convince me.

Real life container ships don't mount warp drives, FTL communication gear, astrometric sensors, shields, armor, environmental control systems designed to maintain a nice cozy environment in the vacuum of space, and enough fuel to run basically forever.

Or to look at it another way, the ships are designed to allow you to carry as much cargo as CCP feels is balanced for a single player making a single trip from point A to point B.

Do it right, that's a good start Lol

i dunno, seems a little out of proportion..

we have current ships, at 1/4 of the length, with engines, fuel tanks etc etc, crew quarters etc on them with larger cargo capacity..

Container ships travel in Oceans. A Charon travels in space. An Ocean and Space are slightly different environments.

The Saturn V was 110m long, 10m in diameter and massed 2.8 million kg, and carried a cargo of 45,000 kg. The useable space in the CM&LM was 12.7m^3

The Space Shuttle (which doesn't carry much fuel on board, so is more similar to the Freighter) has a cargo bay of 299m^3, of it's 51m length and 8.7m diameter.

By the way, when you're trying to astroturf, it helps to use alts that aren't in the same corp to try to bolster your idea.

Despite the need for larger cargo .. because she said bigger was better.. ccp will never give them more m3 because they don't want tpolice capitals in high sec and anything much more then what we have now would allow that

Your average container ship doesn't need to house shield capaitors, warp drives, star drives or jump drives or maneuvering thrusters for that matter. It's not armored, has an average crew compliment of 10, and aside from food and water for 10 guys and a radiator has no life support whatsoever.

Did I miss anything?

If we are talking size, what about the Mach, its huge! Its material density must be very low as it occupies such a large space! A fast, agile BS that is bigger than than all other BS's.

Also, fat pod's are a great idea.

Well, most of that ship could be empty or filled with styrofoam... Straight

It is so that you won't be able to carry capital ships inside a freighter , simple as that.
