What are corporations usually like?

I see two kinds of corpos :
1) the ones which are just a chatbox for people who play alone in their corner.
2) the ones where people actually do something together, often and regulary, whatever it is, and who even can share a common goal.

My humble opinion : choose a corpo where there is enough members who are regulary active and motivated. If not, don't lose your time, even if they are friendly.

Never join a corp that describes itself as a

Some corps are just a group of friends having fun, irregardless of the corp "goal" or "ambition". They are usually newbie-friendly, have a high interest in promoting the game and don't take things too seriously.

Other corps, well, they are run by less-friendly individuals who have "issues" -- to put it both politely and charitably. AVOID those corps like the plague, as said individuals usually take the game way too seriously for you to have any fun and they are mostly playing for their own gratification at your expense, irregardless of how "wunderbar" they might make things sound to be playing in their little corner.

Often, they will have you off doing some menial task that benefits their agenda more than yours, and of course they will justify it by saying "this is how you learn" or "we like team players, so do it for the team". Chances are if you feel like you're being treated like a peon, then they are treating you like a peon.

Bottom line, INVEST the TIME in talking to recruiters for a good long time to find out what you are getting into BEFORE you click the "Apply" button.

Oh...and here is a salt shaker for you. You'll need it. one. grain. at. a. time.

hehe, 100% this ^

To briefly answer your questions - If you had a scale from 1 to 10, 1 being "the worst" and 10 being "best attitude", you will find many Corps and Alliances to slot in to all of the numbers, with many in between as well.

Variety is the spice of life, what you do with it is entirely up to you. You will bump your head along the way, but so what ? This is a game and many people actually forget that one aspect - this is a game.

Good luck out there, have fun.
