While doing some drunk fleet last night on my alt in FW, I thought of an idea for a new EWAR style mod.

First things first though, we have to admit that drones are EVERYWHERE, while their are ways to avoid their dmg and their are counters to them, the fact is they are a primary source of dps for many.

One of my biggest complaints about drones is that, unlike every other form of primary dps, they are effectively impervious to jamming. Sure the drones can be shot, but, as we saw in ATXI, most drone ships can just field another set of them.

So here's the idea:

Drone Bandwidth Scrambler:
Based on your skills can jam all or part of the players drone control.
Jammed drones will stop, remain connected, but will stop doing dps and moving for the duration of the jam.

Since this is an individual model, I think a base, with max applicable skill, jamming chance should be like:

No jam: 20%
Jam 25mbit/sec: 30%
Jam 50mbit/sec: 20%
Jam 75mbit/sec: 15%
Jam 100mbit/sec: 10%
Jam 125mbit/sec:: 5%

This would make the module pretty effective against waves of small drones, so I think frigs would have to wrestle with this EWAR vs other mid slot mods.
It would be less effective against Sentry drones, but could still play a roll.

Drones can be jammed, unless its npc weirdness, I've had several fights vs guristas when the attack command fails because the drone is jammed.

Not wholly related to your post but I imagine not many realise it.

I like the idea of being able to jam out a target ship's drone control. This seems like a good idea to me.
While drones are separate entities from a ship, they are still controlled by that ship, so a drone control jammer seems like a very plausible means of electronic warfare, one that I feel the Caldari EWAR ships would be specialized for.

On a larger scale, it would make sentry carrier drone assisting a nightmare if you could jam out an entire carrier's drones, but at the same time, EWAR ships are incredibly vulnerable to such setups.

Good idea, +1 like from me.

The idea of being able to jam a ship's drone control is not bad, but your suggestion is terrible. People want CCP to rework ECM precisely because of the chance based approach, so introducing yet another module like that would be outright dumb.

Make it idiot-proof and someone will make a better idiot.
