Looking for a good legion fit to run lvl 3-4 missions.
Only T2 fitted, no faction mods atm.

It will smash L3s easily and tank them with no problem. You should also have plenty of tank for L4s if you fit mission specific hardeners and don't forget to run your AB constantly to speed tank.

just curious, would a beam legion be similarly capable after the buff?

That setup is great for L3s (I'd use it to boost corp standings, for example), but when it comes to L4s I'm afraid that tank of a single rep Legion isn't quite enough unless you're fighting Angels. And then you actual DPS will be rather low...

If you are to fight Angels, you could use HAM configuration if you have skills for that (use Power core multiplier then if you want 6 launchers; sadly, no other sub offers that).

Beam Legion looks nice. Assuming that you can pull range or won't allow frigs close in the first place, you should be fine.
Then again, I don't remember having problems with killing frigs with medium ("tier 2") beams without any webs and/or TCs when I was 3 weeks old toon. Probably skilled pilot should fare just fine with heavy beams now despite tracking nerf.

not sure about that. it is quite small and fast and the stacked repair amount bonuses really make the rep do heavy duty. if i were to fly this, i would be more concerned about my projection and raw dps than my tank.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Perhaps you're right. This ship is capable of having up to 300 something DPS tank against Sansha, so as long as you don't get webbed, you should be fine in most missions. TDs will screw you up though, so if you suddenly can't apply your DPS after you're tackled, you probably won't have time to call for Chip and Dale.

I honestly haven't flown Legions in L4 missions, but I used my Tengu as a benchmark, it went at a similar speed, had similar signature radius, but it only had a 270dps tank (uniform) and I never even came close to losing it, only time I dropped below 25% shield was when I wasn't paying attention on the mercenaries mission with like 10 webbers.

That Legion does at worse 310 dps tank against Sanshas fully cap stable so it should have no problem tanking any L4. However with only 50+km max range you'll be flying around alot to get into range so its far from optimal, but definitely doable. Obviously if you just sit there still you'll probably die, or if you get webbed down too heavily, but you should be able to dispatch the frigs extremely fast with the fast lock of the Legion and Scorch.

Meanwhile I've tried to convert this very fit into beam mobile. Basically, if you use T2 guns, you have to fit ACR (cap life about 6+ mins). With meta4 beams (you will lose 55-70 DPS here depending on skills and implants) you don't have to and you can be cap stable, but you still need either perfect fitting skills or cheap PG implant.

Overall you'll push, depending on configuration and other factors, about 600-700 paper DPS to 30 km with navy MF...

Mission running a single rep Lego isn't so bad MOST of the time for L4s. Its when those damn spider drones show up that you are basically screwed.

With a web and target painter and pulse laser, I still hit spider drones at 3 km but it's better to dispatch them before...

Best advice is don't use a Legion. Any T1 BS would be cheaper and better.

340 dps tank against sansha,
715 dps with gleam at 15+16 range
715 dps with factoin multi at 29 + 16
414 dps with aurora at 105 + 16

Thats actually not too shabby for lvl 4s. Not better than most t1 bs but still. It'd be fun. You shouldnt have a problem with elite frigs using gleam with good gunnery skills and swapping both TCs to tracking. 30 mins of cap ie stable imo.

HAM Legion is >>>>> laser Legion for missions. Better fitting, no cap use, and damage type selection. It does the same DPS as a Tengu to anything that doesn't have kinetic as the weakest resist, it just lacks range.

I know you said "no faction" but those hardeners are only 8m each. With web/TP/rigor you can shoot NPC elite frigs reasonably well and it's 700 DPS to anything else.
