Requires hull repairer + code breaker

Premise: Finding intact ships in site

to aquire:
1. Blow up ship yard holding the ship
2. repair it's damaged hull with a hull repairer
3. activate code breaker
4. The player must select one of 2 options within a minute, after which if no discussion is made it re-locks (only the player who opened it can choose)
option:

a) autopilot to nearest star station - ship turns into an npc and autopilots to nearest station where it switches over the player possession (ignores station docking restrictions)

b) prepare for boarding, switches over to a player ship where it can be boarded by a pod with appropriate skills

*May find multiple ships in a site and it is well defended proportionally to value of the ships within

All ships could be found but usually one would just find cheap frigates and those would be fairly sparse to begin with as to not hurt any industries but just add some flavor and excitement.

EDT: Lets try some numbers...

spread out in pure randomness

per day:
50-100 frigs
20-30 destoyers
10-20 cruisers
5-10 battlecruisers
1-5 battleships

per 2 days:
5-10 faction frigs

per week:
1-5 faction cruisers

per month:
1 faction battle ship

*requires hacking 4 and a failed attempt has a 10% chance of destroying ship which turns it into a normal pvp wreck with no module loot

Suddenly pirate ships are worth more as scrap and null fleets are all pirate BB.

Wonderful idea. I fully support it. Needs though a bit tweaking, for example:

  • Needs specific level of Hacking to be able to successfully break the code.
  • Shipyard won't be undefended. It should have some wave of rats, like in an anomaly.
  • Ship could have a possibility during a failure hacking attempt, to explode and instead of ship a can with Ship materials, items could exist in the can.
  • . . .

We could also extend this idea with unfinished, parked ships in missions to enhance PVE activity with non-obligatory possible actions. For example, you can use the same modules you described on the ships for the same purpose.

Again, great idea!

Spaceships don't grow on trees you know... this undermines the whole idea of Eve's economy.
