Probably the dumbest question anyone has asked this week

I'll make it short: is there any programs, etc that can look at invention skills someone has learned, and cross them over to show what they can run invention on? Doing it manually is tedious. Looking to maximize some skills I already have.

Check the program in my sig. You can use the manufacturing tab and select "Only calculate items I can invent" to limit what you will see in the list.

Hope that helps.

In my experience, you'll eventually want them all to 4. Maybe not on the same character, but you'll want them. The ability to adapt to market fluctuations is pretty critical.

But in the meantime, I fully endorse IPH. It's running right now.

I agree with this comment. When it comes to the T2 market, any builder worth their weight can effectively crush the margins on a narrow basket of items.

A misconception I noticed is that some people carry the idea from real life that there is economies of scale EVE. Producing 100 ships will not cost less than producing 10 of the same ship (though setting up long production jobs has an advantage of lowering effort, however this introduces a time and slippage risk). In some cases, high volume production is more expensive as there is limited supply of input materials at a price that makes production worthwhile.

Diversified scale is possible so long as your production is not drawing on the same supply market.

I found the ideal strategy for the T2 market for me is being the first to market when margins are high, build what I can till margins return to historical averages, then move elsewhere. On the other hand, holding an inventory and only releasing when prices are advantageous is possible, though this is significantly more risky.

It might be, in real life where money is slightly more difficult to come by, holding on to inventory for too long isn't a good idea - however in Eve Online it shouldn't be too much of an issue - as long as you remember where your profit margin is and don't go below that level. Or you can refine and sell the minerals for more - more towards the T1 items than T2, until CCP adds extra materials to every recyclable items.

Its time to stand up against the bad empire based CEO telling falsehoods about what new characters can accomplish and pushing them towards an in game experience of drudgery and loneliness keeping them in the shadow of ignorance for at nest their own profit at worse apathy towards all the experiences that Eve has to offer.

EVEmon shows all BPO you can invent or manufacture.

@Zifran, I tried using your program, but even after updating my API it still thinks I can invent Tengu stuff and nothing else? Am I doing something wrong?

@Tau I thought there was a way to do this, but I seem to have forgotten what this way is. Enlighten me?

And I'm sure all invention skills will be at 4 at some point, but in the time management game, it makes sense to focus on a few and work outward.

1. Bring up the skill planner (main form, "plans" from the menu bar, bring up any plan).
2. Click the blueprint browser tab.
3. Uncheck all but "Tech 1" check boxes (upper left corner).
4. Select "filter blueprints I cannot use"
5. Select "for Invention"
6. If there are blueprints you can't invent, they should show up on the tree on the left. Any lacking skills should display in the lower right corner when you select the blueprint in the tree.
