Does the 2x bonus to training time still apply to everyone under 1.6 million skill points?

If it is still around at all, what are the criteria?

Hi Seiei Hana

This bonus is no longer applied to new accounts. It was removed when Learning Skills became obsolete, and all base attributes was increased.

The double training bonus along with the increased attributes, would enable way too fast training speeds.

If you are looking for a training speed boost as a rookie, you should check out the Cerebral Accelerator, which is currently being offered for a limited time when upgrading to full account.

Although technically correct, I have to say that CCP are guilty of spinning the facts here in that statement above or at least glossing over the facts.

Why exactly would that be a problem for just the first 1.6M SP - well simply because it becomes too easy for an established player to train up a suicide ganking alt to fly Battleships, gank a load of haulers and miners in high sec then recycle the alt for a fresh one and do it again.

Of course recycling alts in this fashion is illegal, but very difficult to police by CCP. Hence this ruling and the bone of the Celebral Accelerator being thrown to noobs. However, some genuine noobs will sell the Celebral Accelerator on the market for the Isk. They of course will be purchased by established players for their new recyled ganking alt to use.

I'm not sure whether that is an oversight on CCP's part or whether they are delibrately encouraging suicide ganking. Sure they have made it more expensive for suicide gankers of late, but lets face it, they are merely guiding the gankers to be more selective in their targets, money can still be made and at the end of the day it is largely for giggles. Lets be honest, when it doesn't happen to us, don't we just love to hear about them?

cerebral accelerators only work if the ACCOUNT is sub 30 days old...

I suppose the gankers could use throw away trials...

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

My understanding is that it works for the first 35 days for a new character not the account as mentioned by the poster above. I've reread the description and it says "New Pilots" which is a bit confusing but I believe that means new characters not new accounts. It would make no sense to buy these if it was for new accounts only, cause they will already have one and can't train more than one character at a time.

I've searched the forums and can't find any complaints that after purchase it was found not to work on a new character from an old account. Can anyone clarify?

I can confirm that it's the character that's affected, not the account. My account was created on 1st October, Sineidin is my second character on this account and has about a week of use left in the Cerebral Accelerator.

Edit: I should mention that I only activated the Accelerator on Monday, having wasted the first one.
