No KM credit for initial-tackler/gate-pusher?

War target lands on gate and is agressed by Player 'A' who does solid damage
War target jumps gate and is grabbed and killed by Player 'B' (within a minute of initial contact)
Killmail only credits Player 'B'? WTF?

1) When did this change happen?
2) Bug? Obviously Person A should be on the killmail...

When you jump through the gate, your aggression is dissolved.

This has always been the case so its not a change, for some reason when someone jumps the system clears the damage log and thus people who shot/tackled/etc before he jumps do not appear on the killmail.

Also if you don't shoot at something for more than 15 minutes you are taken off the mail. Killmail whores need to remember to shoot every once in a while :)

I honestly don't remember the KM being cleared before on gate jump, I still think this is (relatively) new...

Its also not about whoring at all. My bro Zarazonia had just finished tackling & engaging the dude when he jumped gate and we finished him off within the next minute, nowhere near 15 minutes... Obviously he did a great job on initial tackle and pushing the target through, and shouldn't get swiped from the KM just because he couldn't follow through for the 1 minute gate-timer before the target died... (The 'whores' got on the KM, its the initial tackler and agressor that got screwed...)

..Does it make sense though? Someone pivotal in getting initial tackle and dps on someone before they jump gate, getting hosed on the KM just because the dude jumped a gate?

I'm voting no. This is bad mechanics, and someone should feel very bad for doing it.

1) It's been like that ever since they limited killmails to having only one system named listed on the kill. (The beginning)

2) Not a bug. Person A is a grand hero and will be remembered by his mates for his great sacrifice - just not on the KM.

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

Its not new. Maybe you are new to the system of pvp. gate jumping wh jumping resets it. If you're not in the system that ship dies in and has not shot it in the last 15 minutes then its reset.

Totally get the 15 min thing, totally get this may be 'always worked this way'. Great...

But not so great. Again, *should* it work this way? A hero tackler getting washed from the KM purely because the target jumped gate (and was blapped within moments of jumping BTW...).

Hardly.

Yes, unless you've got some magical way of providing that information across the session-change handshake in a manner that adequately reports damage received in a specified system during a particular engagement that then doesn't bog down the operability of the handshake, the session change, and the subsequent forced consensual removal of assets.

it has always been like that, killmails are not important, important is that target dies.

It's not on session change. It's literally linked to system. If a guy gets shot, docks up and reps, then gets killed by a different guy, whoever shot him first will still be on the killmail assuming that it all happened in the same system (well technically the guy can rep up in a different system).

You should not share in the killmail if you let your prey escape. Think of it like that.

theres also system statistic coding that would need overhauling if you allowed something like this

There's no way to prevent someone from jumping through a gate they're sitting on top of, except of course for bumping them which rarely works because they'll just jump when you try to do it.

The only viable tactic is to have someone on the other side to make sure they can't escape on the other end.

2 seperate engagements from a mechanics point of view. Indeed, 'session change'.
