Mentioning drones is important. Even if you aren't using them as main DPS, pretty much anything over Destroyer sized makes use of drones to deal with smaller enemies. You can have awesome Gunnery skills and still die to rats because you couldn't kill the scram frigs without drones.

More importantly, as you go up in size and complexity of ship the fittings tend to get tighter. You might have been able to fit out a cruiser with mediocre skills, but that wont cut it for long in a half billion isk battleship. Every fitting module you need is lost potential tank/DPS/EWAR/speed.

This is certainly true in PvP especially. Many 'basic' PvP fittings still just assume max skills in a number of places. Incursions are another place where people just expect more than an expensive ship, they expect a pilot who is making best use of that ship.

Spending some time in a battle cruiser with medium sized weapons is a good time to go back and fill in some of those V's you have ignored until now. Training large weapons and battleship skills runs into month + times, so before you drop that long on a single skill, go back and get some core 2x and 3x skills to max. That little 4% here and 3% there can make all the difference in a high end fit that strains PG and CPU.

What Aleric said.

Frigs can web/warp disrupt in 4's

If your drone skills are not up to the task you may find your "testing the waters" mission quite extreme and possibly expensive.

Look at your certificates and read them all seriously read your certificates and you will learn quickly your not ready for that raven. I actually run lvl 3's in a caracal you just have to know what you are doing and read the Eve survival website about each mission so you know what ammo and resists to bring.

Skip the BS when you've barely stepped out of your station and stick to the smaller stuff.

Hull upgrades IV
Mechanic IV
Powergrid and CPU Management V
Capacitor Management IV or V
Shield Management IV or V
Secondary Gunnery or Missile skills at IV
Drones V
Scout Drone operation V
Secondary drone skills to III or IV

****

Train that, THEN look at upsizing to a BS.
I'd still recommend a couple more skills at IV but consider that a bare minimum.

Pliz.

It seems no1 ever adds navigation skills in their core skills. Enjoy your bricks in space.. You cannot operate any spaceship class without them. Transversal = 0 / Warp = 0, no cap / Prop mods = no thx

Reopen the EVE gate so we can invade Serenity. Goons can go first.
