In an abuse of power overstepping expected duties of simple chat channel moderation, the mods of the merc contracts channel have delisted The Devil's Warrior Alliance in a pre-emptive and political move that brings into question the integrity of the channel at whole, its mods, and an attack on all merc alliances mandate to govern their own memberships and destiny.

Evidently the corporation 'Rebirth' caused problems in the past in the chat channel and were kicked. Problem solved right?

Well, last month The Devil's Warrior Alliance, a long standing and solid EvE mercenary corporation, added Rebirth to its alliance. A month later the moderators of the merc contracts channel then put a gun to Lord Razpataz's head and demanded he kick Rebirth from its alliance.

That's right. Chat-channel mods, demanding a distinguished alliance head (and super nice guy) to kick members from his alliance.

Even though Raz reminded them the offenders of the past were already kicked from channel and could cause no trouble in channel, or that Devil's is not responsible for others past actions, or that no Rebirth member had yet caused trouble under the Devil's alliance, that wasn't good enough for a power-drunk mod or two intent on banning Devils for political reasons, not actual channel disruption.

- There are no listed rules in the channel saying previously banned members entering other alliances will trigger a guilt-by-association ban
- Rebirth was in Whores in Space for a month, yet no ban resulted in that case. Why?
- Marmite had a banned member (Vegas) in their alliance for some time, and no ban resulted in that case either. Why?
- Banned members are today in Break A Wish, yet no ban has occurred in that case. Why?
- No Rebirth member has actually caused disruption in channel under Devil's

Something stinks here.

Now, a key reason I am bringing this abuse of power and political interference into the public view is because the mods doubled-down and recently spent some time patting themselves on the back on the 'Declarations Of War' podcast, on how Devil's were "given a choice to kick Rebirth, or be kicked themselves"...

A choice with a gun to your head is no choice. Punishment for an uncommitted crime is unacceptable. And lets get real, you are chat channel moderators, NOT a group empowered to do overall mercenary alliance governorship. You crossed the line.

Again, Devils and no-one under the Devil's alliance has caused an actual offence in the merc contracts channel; a long standing and valued member of the merc community had a gun put to its head, was delisted, and pompously justified based on a pre-emptive act of guilt by association.

Disgusting really.

The Devil's Warior Alliance should be re-listed in the merc contracts channel immediately, with the understanding IF any offenses are rendered by the small number of Rebirth members part of our greater whole, Raz will deal with it. Raz has earned that chance.

But again, if Rebirth offenders are already kicked from the actual channel...how can they cause problems? No further proof than that is needed that this isn't about channel moderation, but political revenge (or PTSD)

I hope my presence in Break a Wish does not cause the same situation. I am however perma banned from that channel as a character so it should not be an issue.

Words in an MOTD apparently hold SO MUCH POWER.

As owners of that channel I'm pretty sure they can impose whatever rules, nonsensical or not, they so desire. It's not like Merc Contracts is an actual council of spacefarers who delve into topics of importance. Haven't the same mods run that channel for years, while the variety of mercs has shifted?

All that aside, rabble rousing and words of entitlement probably won't earn favor from the channel mods and I doubt they care enough about the opinion of C&P (or Devil's apparently) to change anything.

I'm actually surprised you didn't put that ball of words into a blog post and spam the link everywhere.

That's because low sec is a scary place and the Bothans never returned to give viable intel.

That's whats frustrating, Raz did try over the last week or so to raise the same points with them. Not all mods supported the action BTW, some are neutral or not supportive, but one or two won out -- either blinded by anti-Rebirth PTSD qq'ing, or some other agenda...

Devil's should be relisted immediately, they have done nothing wrong in channel, and neither have Rebirth under our flag.

Sounds more like a trolling situation that the mods are doing to devils, or a few mods holding grudges over past events that they seem fit to punish a section of mercs for.

I believe it should be up to a mod council to vote for the removal of an alliance or corp from the list, not the will of one or two begrudged mods with something to prove.

It's very easy to guess...

Well.. I have thought of some responses... but.. its all about time and patience.
And the whole de-listing its just bullshit.. imo.
The whole reason for the delisting was so the mods dont have to deal with any drama related to Rebirth, but by doing this (delisted Devils) I'm sure the mods have used more time already on me, than they would use on actually dealing with a problem done by Rebirth.

Not sure if the intent was that I should roll over and just let it pass?

Agreed on the OP post.

However if you beleive a mod is targetting your corp/alliance because of rebirth then the other mods
should over ride this rulling and let you guys and gals back in. If rebirth start being a pain in the arse again devils need to deal with it or face being kicked again.

The other option is to set up a new channel with key members from each merc corp/alliance where an agreement can be made to resolve situations like this without it spiralling out of control.
