hi
im close to flying a dread, (Minnie) and I was wondering if there is any solo use for this? or if its all pos bashing.

I know the 8/10 sie doesn't have gates etc so it can be used there, but any other uses? (worm hole touring!)

Discounting the Cyno ships there are potential uses for Solo dreads... but most of them are POS bashing...

I know of two people who flew Dreads solo:
Tigs (Genco, IAC) used to take out her Blaster'ros against hostile Blaster'throns in my days with the Alliance - though that only worked because people didn't understand how tracking worked.
One of the Rooks and Kings videos features Lord Maldoror (IIRC) taking his Revelation out to incapacitate all of the guns on a target POS the night before the attack proper.

For someone "close to flying a dread" I would suggest that there are no viable solo applications however, I know Tigs (and I strongly suspect Lord Maldoror) are highly experienced dread pilots and could rapidly replace their losses should somthing not go as planned in addition to assessing the risks and benefits of their excursions to establish the proper moment to use the dread solo.

They also had backup in case something went wrong. Flying your first dread solo, without backup, is asking to get blapped.

You might be able to take a dread into a DED without gates but that don't mean you will be able to actually hit anything. As far as solo goes, if a single npc frigate scrambles your dread, you will never ever ever be able to warp away.

A dread is one of the few ships that can bash a pos that has active guns solo.

With a dread and a cyno alt, it is possible to RF a pos all by yourself. No subcap can feasibly do this.

All you need to do, is cross your fingers and hope no one scouts you. To facilitate this make sure to light the cyno near a station, that way people will think you're a jump freighter.

Oh yeah, they're incredibly useful solo. They make hilarious lossmails, for one.

Bashing the 9/10 escalation sites that have that annoyingly tanked NPC station. No matter what you're gonna need a cyno even if you're "solo". Unless you like living in one system forever.

Oh so if people think you're a JF they won't try to kill you?

There are a huge number of no-or-lightly defended faction small and medium towers in low-sec which you can blap with a solo dread. Way back when I scouted for a friend doing exactly that. Takes patience and cunning, and excellent scouting. One tackle will ruin your day.

A solo dread can be used as bait.

Really solo dread is just big no no. But if you get into wormhole corp you can do capital escalations with it. Which is pretty pocking awesome isk. In wormhole you can also blap poses and pocos for tears. Or join nulsec allinace where they are used in blap dread fleets and ultimate structure bash.

I hope you realize that that video is about 5 years old. The game has changed a lot since then. And thats especially true in terms of capital warfare and response times.
