Solo miner path

Hello players.

I started new account yesterday and I chosed mining career in Eve.

I found in evelopedia advanced mining tutorial, what ships is recommended, what skills to improve first and very very usefull for new player like me.

I finished 2 tutorials, Aura, and mining agent.

Notice that I played 2 trial accounts in last 2 years, and now I want to start serious play here.

I allready completed much more agents in that 2 last trial accounts, military, business etc, and even allmost completed some arc

missions with catalyst ship but couldnt proceed because trail was over and I didnt have time to play and continue.

So, I know some stuff about agents, skills, etc. Not much.

What I want to ask experienced players is.

If I want to solo mine, long time, should I start right after completing miner agent, collecting ore and buff my player with miner skills and eventually go for Retriever and so on?

Or should I go and complete other agents missions and that storyline arc missions?

I am not interested in other types of playing, like battleships, corps, warfare etc.
Maybe science and exploration eventually but later in game.

I am now with my venture mining and collecting ore, following this tutorial: https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Advanced_mining

Please, any advice and suggestion in further mining carrer, long term would help so that I can set that goal and go for it.

Thank you all in advance.

mining is horrible isk/hour but yeah, get a retriever; it only takes a week to have the skills to fly one.

also half of that wiki page is out of date, and incorrect.

If you really like mining, you might want to do mining missions. I find that they're relaxing and that I can get 1k isk/LP out of the loyalty point stores from them also. ISK per hour isn't that great, but I was also doing it for the standings in order to get level 4 R&D agents and to be able to put up a POS.

I am going to give you some advice. If you are getting into mining to further a goal like for example working your way into production/building an industrial empire for yourself or corp. Having the ability to mine up what you need is great.

If its purely to fund your gameplay, like PVP/Ship replacement there are easier ways to do it.

For example:

1 Orca and 5 Hulk Miners = 100,000,000 isk per hour.

1 Noctis Salvaging behind my corpmates plex's they cant be bothered to loot. 91 Million in 20 minutes.

I think you see what I am getting at. Now, if you need the ore anyways, thats fine. I mine to fuel production which amplifies things beyond simply mining and selling the ore. It makes me enough to plex all my accounts and further my goals. But make no mistake, I am not what you would call space rich.

If you're solo mining, I'd recommend mining missions as mentioned above.

Otherwise, mining solo is absolutely horrible ISK/hr (still pretty bad mining with full boosts and a hauler)... but the good part is it's largely afk- especially if you're using a retriever in mining missions. Target a rock, shoot it for a while- watch a movie in the mean time.

I'm guessing you're talking about nullsec?

Yes, Was mostly using it to illustrate the point. If isk is what you are after there are better ways than mining to work towards.

I'll agree with that. It seems mining makes very little ISK compared to ratting or mission running. In highsec it's even less then when you factor in gankers it doesn't seem worth it. I spent months training one of my pilots to fly a Hulk but I've probably piloted one for 30 hours. I think I've spent more time ganking miners than mining LOL

Just remember that ISK is not everything.

Its a game and you are meant to have fun. If you really like mining and aspire to running you own massive mining fleets then good on you. Don't let all of the ISK per hour people get you down.

That being said mining can get really boring really fast (as does most PVE activities), unless you are watching a movie or doing something else. So dont lock yourself into doing one thing and dont be afraid to try new things.

PS join "RVB ganked" channel and come and pew pew, EVE really is about PVP and its about as non committal you can get, as long as you can fly a frigate and use the most basic guns ect (maybe 12 hours of training) you will have a spot. Then you will have a reason to make the isk.

I don't mean to be harping on isk/h. I just wanted to make sure he knew that he shouldn't be getting into it for that because mining isn't where you'll find it. There are a lot of valid reasons to mine. Trust me I do A LOT of it.

The mistake I see alot of people making is thinking that mining is easy money. When in truth it's boring work for **** pay, unless you need the minerals for something your working on, its not really the way to go.

You need 20M isk/day to plex an account. That's an hour or two of mining in a retriever per day. If someone enjoys the relaxed gameplay of mining while chatting with corp mates or general channels, it can easily work to plex an account.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

Hello players

I will consider everyones suggestions and advices in these coming weeks, really gratefull for all of them, thank you.

I even received invitations for joining miner corp I think, thank you also for invitation, I will think about that also and reply to you Blink

Now I am running first military rookie missions because I will need some beginner skills and ships for some of them that I came across in level 1 mining.

So, yea I decided to go mining agents for now to collect status and influence for lvl 2 etc agents.

Run ALL of the career agents, not just the mining and millitary. Good ISK, free ships.

This is a good advice regardless of which way you think you will enjoy EvE.

Good ISK, free ships, free skill books and a tiny taste of some alternatives that are out there.

And if you intend to stay solo in an mmo environment then you will be dabbling with several different jobs.

Just check taxes rates and the amount if isk per unit vs market prices to make sure they don't take to much advantage of you.

PS corps make eve a lot more fun if you get a good one.

Edit

If you do want to try out RVB ganked let me know as I am happy to sponsor you with free ships ect.

My suggestion:

Take it slow, beef up your supporting skills before you 'go big'. This is true of mining as well as combat.

If you are fresh out of the airlock, I reiterate: TAKE IT SLOW.

There is severe temptation to train forty new skills to level 1-2 because they're so fast. Train what you need to fit out that Venture, and stick with those skills until they are maxed. Don't put it off or you will have entire months where you can't do anything new because you've got nothing but level 5 skills staring you in the face standing in the way of something you really want/need.

The part of the game that makes players hate life is that last level 5 stretch. Get the basics done and over with as early as possible.

Second, join a corp with similar interests. You can usually get much older characters (like me) to refine your wares for you for free, saving you a lot of training time early on. They may even buy your ore straight off without refining.

Remember. Focus, focus, focus. If you lose focus, you lose efficacy. There's more to a miner than just the hull and lasers.

lastly: Core Competancy. The certificate path has a lot of skills I STRONGLY recommend completely training, as they're useful for every ship you will ever fly ever.

Super lastly: Keep up to speed on pirate and ganker antics. Can-flipping and gang invites are old as veldspar. Stay up to speed on whatever new kind of mechanics and methods that can be used against you.

Super-duper lastly: take the time to learn how to shoot. I don't mean shoot back. I mean shoot first. Difference between a carebear and a gun runner is that carebears don't shoot you for popping into local.

Ty Twylla for that super-duper post, I will need to read all that couple of times to understand all of it Smile

I am still in Venture with miner 2, doing mining missions for CreoDron and gaining LP and reputation, atm I am on lvl 3 agent, in the meantime skilling to the Retriever, 5-6 days to go.

About corporations, I did mentioned that I like to play solo, maybe one day I will apply, but for now I like as it is.

Did find my native language channel, and guys do help alot in info also.

About certificates, I did saw that message when i finished training one skill for Retriever, it poped in my screen, will check abt them also.
