In various games devs use expensive tasteless items to mock players who mindlessly spend large sums on vanity stuff. For example in Neverwinter there is expensive jester suit as reward to those who opened tons of "mystery boxes": lottery tickets cost $1.25 apiece (40-70 needed for the suit) - estimated price of useless cosmetic suit is around $50-80 - it's more than $40 price of fast horse and more than other - actually tasteful - cosmetic suits cost ($15-30).

Monocle is a jester suit of EVE.

Wrong. Silvershaw greatcoat is the equiv. Shame you can't get one for women. I will just have to stick monocles on all my female toons.
