So I've decided to create and alt and do mining mission on him. After about 40-50 level one missions I decided to look at where I was with getting in to level 2's, not even .1 increase with the corps level 2 agents. Can I not grind agent standing through mining missions?

mining missions worst missions.
Do distribution missions for fast standing increase...they are best.

Whilst mining missions are quite poor for standings increases, after 40+ of them you should be able to access level 2 missions with that corp.

Did you do the 40+ mining missions all for the same corp.?

There are some Social Skills to train that will help.

I would like to get into level 4's faster then auto piloting distribution missions would get me there I think.

Yes I did them all for the same corp. I started at .7 standing, did somewhere around 30-50 missions, still have .7 standing :(.

Are you sure you are looking at the correct info.

Every single mission should of increased your standings towards the corp. you're running missions for. (as long as you completed them)

You can check your standings in the character sheet. Find the corp. in there and r-click it to find the changelog of the standings(might be called something else in the menu)

No I wasn't doing it like that. I just start conversations with their level 2 agents to see how much standing I've gained with them. When I was grinding through security missions it would increase .1 every 1-3 misisons. Now looking in the character sheet i see I have a .60 standing with the corp, which I assume has come up from .0. Interesting that my way worked while doing sec missions but not mining, maybe the corp standing has to come up to .8 before boosting the agents to .8, if that is the case then why don't the agents start out at .0 with the corp. Confusing us noobs.

Go into your Character Sheet.

Scroll down to the Corporations listing.

Double Click on the applicable Corp name.

You will see just exactly how much percentage increase is happening per mission.

The 3 levels of standings are tiered

If faction standing is highest then all agents and corps will like you as much as the faction does
If the corp is higher then all the agents in that corp will like you that much
If the agent likes you more then you can talk to him even if the corp doesnt.

The only way the last one is possible to my knowledge, is to run missions with a friend that DOES have access to that agent and that friend sharing the mission rewards. You'd eventually reach the standing to use that specific agent before ever having the corp standings to do so.

Also keep in mind that different missions have different rewards. There are still some combat missions that have terrible gains just like mining missions and a few mining missions that might have good gains like combat missions.

Personally last time I ran mining missions they actually gave quite a lot of standing compared to other mission types. I assumed at the time that it was to compensate for their crap payouts. I also recall that it was level 3 missions too.

I would agree.

Still, 40 or 50 missions is 3 storyline missions. All standings should have moved by this point.

For 3 days I've put in 5 hours per day (on leave) doing lvl 1's (security) from this one agent. Hasn't changed at all.

Standing Transactions only shows two .4% and both are the same delivery mission. So it looks like out of all the missions offered, only one will give a change to standing. The rest are doing anything at all.

First of all train the connection skill to lvl 3 thats helps a lott.and 1 more thing for evry standing gain it takes more standing to gett to next lvl so doing lvl 2 mining mission givs verry littel standing incrise per mission when close to standing 2,an better option is to join a player corp whid hige standings to npc corps that way you gett faster to higer lvl missions as the player corp standings give you acses.

Do ONE mission. Go down to the corporation you did that mission for in your character sheet...not the faction, not the agent, the corporation. Right-click on that corporation, click on 'transactions', that's where you should find a change.

For instance, if you are running a lvl 1 security mission from the Caldari Navy agent 'Sigechiro Onzo', you are going to scroll down to 'Caldari Navy' under corporations. You're not looking at the standings transactions for that agent, Sigechiro Onzo. You are not looking at standings for 'Caldari State'. You are looking for standings transactions for Caldari Navy.

If you find nothing under transactions for the corporation, Caldari Navy in this case, then you might have a problem.

I'm guessing, as I'm sure are most people, that you are looking at something besides standings for that specific corporation.

This, exactly this.

Also, social skills make a big difference, and allow you to bypass the completely worthless level 1 missions. Train them first if you plan on grinding standings.

1. Do one or two level 1 missions so you have 0.1 standing.
2. Train Connections 3.
3. You can now do level 2 missions!

Also flush your cache. One reason for standings not updating right away is because of the cache.
