It can change from corp to corp (or corp to alliance).
Vent and TS are both very common and i have heard about many alliances that use Mumble.

But most are easy to set up so you can just download it when you figure out what your corp/alliance prefer.

All of my previous corps have used either Ventrilo or Mumble, but my current alliance uses Teamspeak 3. Expect to be using any one of the three in a serious corporation.

I've seen a lot of TS3 myself. My own corp uses Mumble.

The one thing you can be sure of is that noone uses eve voice in a serious context.

The reason is, if you get disconnected in the game, you lose your comms as well as your game.

I've used Vent, TeamSpeak, and Mumble- so I have them all ready to go. I suggest having those three set up so you just need specific server info plugged in to get on voice quickly.

Ts3 is very common as it has decent voice quality and for small corps a small server is cheap to rent (unless you set up your own small server). Mumble is popular as well as it had good voice quality but is free to set up as large of a server as you like. Vent used to be more popular but I have heard that many consider it the worst quality of the bunch with only Ts2 (now retired) being worse.

Of course this is what I have heard and cannot be seen as absolute fact, and it varies wildly on opinion. But overall ts3/mumble are the two types you will see most often, followed by the occasional vent.

On my main I use both Ts3 and mumble and I can honestly say both sound just fine to me, though with mumble being open source and free it surprises me not more alliances use it.

I'm going to venture in unverified lands, but I know TS can be linked to a forum plugin to check with EVE API and grant roles and access to TS (mumble too I think), not sure if Vent has the same possibility, but that's probably one reason many corps chose to use TS.

Yup mumble can have similar functions, which is very handy do directors don't have to add people to the TS/Mumble server every 2 minutes Lol
