I really like this game (playing since 2006), it deserves way more players.
But multi accounts is one helluva big downside of eve.
Though CCP is just another company that needs to make money.

I have 4 accounts and I know of others (at least 15 people) that have from 8 to 15 accounts. I know a few others that have from 30 to 100 accounts.

In my opinion, there are only, perhaps 75K actual people playing Eve, all total, including Dev "alts".


EDIT: the ATM part did not register with me, the 75K number is what I believe the total number of people playing eve is. Not what I think is logged in right now, sorry.

What I believe you are looking for is how many unique IP connections there are connecting to the server at any given time.

having more than 1 account is really only useful when you have a capital ship. getting cyno's is much easier when you can place them yourself. It's almost a prerequisite to owning one.

Take the number at login and divide by 3 to account for a statistical average number of alts just sitting in hubs. The remaining number, 1/3, is more or less people actually performing some ingame activity that could be construed as "playing".

I have myself about 8 active accounts (can't really remember :) )

As a serious response it's usually total players online divided by 3, which I think is the average number of accounts per player. Yes plenty of people have only one account (Myself included now, but I used to run 12 at the same time.) but you have a lot of people 10+ multiboxing. And if you count the isk farmers, macro miners, and some major null alliance botters it can climb to 30-40+ accounts. Those people however are the minority thankfully.

Or he is saying that having 1 account in eve is not enough in most cases, like for example if you want to fly a super.

CCP announced some time ago they had broken 500,000 subscriptions barrier... However I don't remember if that announcement had any details of how many of those subscriptions were unique or anything like that.
