17. Impersonation of another party is prohibited.

Forum users are strictly prohibited from impersonating any other party on the EVE Online forums. This includes but is not limited to ISD volunteers, CCP employees, CCP partners and other forum users. This also includes suggesting that an employee of CCP or an ISD volunteer will perform a task for you.

Apparently this applys to NPC characters? So if I pretend to be a hotdog vendor at Jita 4-4 thats a violation of the TOS?

Why does it apparently apply to NPC characters? I am missing that.

If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there.

You've seen hotdog vendors on Eve forums? I'll have what he's having.

There's real reasons why your Eve character doesn't do /dance.

In another GD topic called "Why does everybody hates me ?" that was recently locked the OP was impersonating an NPC docking crew member, the topic was closed with the above rule given.

I do not see how the above rule applys, unless NPCs are considered CCP employees?

See this part in particular:

It's intentionally vague.

This apparently implies to role players o.O well hell with that logic all topics should be locked because aren't we all impersonating our Avatars.

I've seen a lot of stupid **** on the forums, but this is just nit-picky.

Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool, or a coward. Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law is both. For a wounded man shall say to his assailant: "If I live, I will kill you. If I die, you are forgiven." Such is the Rule of Honor.

ok, i dont decide the rules, but that sounds a little iffy

i'm pretty sure the rules are to prevent you from pretending to be specific named npcs, with connections to the storyline
a hot dog vendor, that's just pointless
i does eve have a protected hot dog monopoly so it could only be one specific npc?
i dont get what the problem is..

Make a char called Dagan. Go to Arnon. Spam in local "For just 10M I will self destruct". Make billions.

This is why we cant have impersonation.

But for 50 ISK I will put on a thong and stockings and answer to "Sally"....

Everyone is always repeating the mantra "Don't Trust Anyone" ad nauseum... If I can't trust the guys I play with, why bother playing with them at all? Fly Solo...

If someone can trick you into thinking they are a NPC, you are too dumb to have isk and should turn all of yours over to the nearest available capsuleer.

I have to find this Hotdog vendor in Jita, maybe I can get a mission from him, "Hotdog Extravaganza"

Now, more than ever, we need a dislike button.

The rule is in place to stop you from misleading players.

For example, there was a character trolling the help channel with the sisters of eve epic arc starter agent.
Using it to get people to sign up with a buddy invite.

If you have a clever name and want to pretend to sell hotdogs, something tells me you're not going to get into trouble?

What if a NPC impersonates me?

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

If one of your menus is "Hotdog o'Clock", you're in trouble.
As are all the customers who buy it.

It's a bait, don't fall for it!
