I bet if you keep at it long enough you could even uncover a rare deposit of capital letters.

It's not a bad idea. It could be worth exploring the possibilities. I would throw this into the features and ideas portion of the forum so it gets some attention.

Solar panels anyone? It would be cool to somehow farm or utilize the sun's energy. Would be a nice little extra celestial to fight over perhaps.

The Sun is with earth.

You mean to say "star".

Mine the sun!

Shoot for the stars!

Also, as far as EVE goes, for even a small star you'd need a mining laser with pretty insane range to reach the gooey center. Or a normal mining laser, but you'd have to be very careful not to be bumped away at silly speeds.

Of course, they could just change the mechanics, but that'd kill all the fun.

It is named Sun on my overview in every region of space.

I disagree

Quick we must petition and forum rage that they change the star names from sun. Seriously who named them all sun?

A study once showed that an amazing 45% of people from a prominent western country did not know that the sun is a star.

What exactly they think it is, is beyond me.

That's sadly true,
but still wrong.

"Sun", or "Sol" is the name of our star.

Most people don't know that and mistake "Sun" as a word for "Star".

Also, once the first star is mined to depletion, it turns out it was one of millions of homeworlds in a vast empire built by an advanced hydrogen-based race of living gas/plasma clouds.
This will trigger Incursion v. 2.0.
Also, there may be ancient space ship trees and killer robots involved.

(By the way, how did that franchise end? I never got a copy of the last book in that series)

Read, learn, then be silent

Sun, with a capital, is the English name of our sun, without a capital. A sun, the Sun. There is a difference. One is the name of a sun, the other is synonymous with star. The difference is, in fact, not unlike the difference between God and god. One is a name of a god, the other is synonymous with deity. Proper Noun, common noun.

They all lived happily ever after.

(Truth is, the series is next on my list for a re-read as I can't remember exactly, I do know all the loose ends were tied up nicely.)

QFT.
Though the one part I'd contest, is I'm pretty sure it's only a sun if it has orbital bodies. A Star with nothing orbiting it is not a sun.
