Am I missing something here? I made a huge spreadsheet up to calculate earnings and losses for all PI materials. When I calculated in tax rates at the 10%, every single item that I did it for came out as a loss over time. And that was calculating prices at selling price, not buying price! Without the 10% tax, it would be really profitable, but whoever came up with how much 10% is for different grades of items definitely overvalued the market value of those items.

Say I want a P4 production planet. If I import all the P3 products to the planet, get taxed 5% on them, and then export the P4 products at 10%, it comes out at a huge loss.

I then calculated producing P2 products from extracting them with ECUs. With the export tax of 10%, every items comes out as a loss. How in the crap does anyone make a profit in highsec with PI at ALL??? Maybe my math is wrong, but I dont think so.

so for P2 export, with 67,200 items produced over 10 planets, 2 facilities per planet, over a month... that is 604,800,000 isk in taxes! At 9000 a unit! I must be calculating taxes wrong!

for p2 export, is it really 9000 EACH UNIT??? or is it 10% of 9000 for each unit?

Taxation is dependent on the customs station that the PI goods are being moved through. This was one of the three PI updates from Crucible. If you're in High-Sec, the tax rate is 10%. If you're elsewhere, and the InterBus Customs office hasn't been replaced, the tax rate is 17%. Otherwise, the rate is set by the owner of the Customs Office. The rates go from a base price for each tier of PI goods.

Tax % is taken off the material's taxable value.
This value is set by CCP and is based off the market values in November 2011
Import is always half of export tax
The taxable value are the same for all items in the same tier
Advanced Commodities: 1,350,000.00 ISK
Specialized Commodities: 70,000.00 ISK
Refined Commodities: 9,000.00 ISK
Basic commodities: 500.00 ISK
Planet Resources: 5.00 ISK

Therefore, that is 900 ISK each. Not 9,000.

Not sure if my spreadsheet will help you out much. Its not complete yet, but I will be including an adjustable tax bracket for where you setup operation

phew, great! I will be able to make a profit! I thought 10% of P2 was 9000 isk. 900 is much more managable.

HS PI is nearly risk free hence the minimal return, PI really isnt worth all the effort unless you are ATLEAST doing it in Low Sec. More risk, more reward.. and as long as you stay out of the low sec pvp hubs you really should have no problem.
