Does Eve not have an "invisible" mode?

I know that in other MMOs there is a way to set yourself "invisible" when you log on, if you are not feeling super social that day and want some time to yourself. This has become a really common feature in any sort of social community.

So... why does Eve not have it? Maybe I have a headache and I don't want to appear in corp channels, or in local, or to be contacted by the tons of people who have me on "watch list". The lack of this feature is a gross invasion of privacy and a serious restriction on the "do what you want" sandbox nature of Eve.

What do you think?

Why don't you just tell everyone, "I'm not feeling good today, leave me alone" on the public channels that you share with these people? Then block everyone.

Oh right... because that'd be "rude." It's totally more PC to have technology just hide you.

Just don't respond to people, same difference.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

Voluntarily logging onto an MMO full of other people is a "gross invasion of privacy?" I suspect a troll.

If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there.

sadly this is not practical, as every pirate in the game would enable this permanently, and use this to surprise people
it would also be used in most fleet fights, again, to surprise the enemy, so they could not see the enemy coming nearly as fast

and then a handful of people would actually use it as you intend...

If you're not feeling social, play a single-player game?

Or, create an alt character with no association to your main and log in with them when you want to be left in peace?

Whatta dope...

Everyone is always repeating the mantra "Don't Trust Anyone" ad nauseum... If I can't trust the guys I play with, why bother playing with them at all? Fly Solo...

That's honestly where i thought this was going.

I have to agree with "It's a social game, so go onto it to hide from everyone!" sentiment. It's a social game. Tell them not to talk to you, to **** off, or something along those lines.

Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool, or a coward. Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law is both. For a wounded man shall say to his assailant: "If I live, I will kill you. If I die, you are forgiven." Such is the Rule of Honor.

"sorry I am busy" tends to do the trick.

Other than that, sure I'd love not to show in local, as would all the other pvpers I can think of. Asides from the obvious exploit that would open, all you need to do is say "no" to any request you don't have the time or the will to deal with.

That EVE is not “other MMOs”. Thankfully.
