I saw EVE trailers since Revelation and liked very much, but i joined just after Trinity, and i hooked immidiately.
I started my 14days trial on the same day when my brother started his Worls of Warcraft 10days trial in 2008, he left WoW for EVE after 4 or 5 days. :D

I made my mind up to sub within a few hours of play. I didn't actually sub until a few days later.

Soon after playing the game I ended up signing up for a year, buying a few PLEX for ISK, buying every issue of Eon and ISK the Guide, along with the slipcase artbook, battleship models and pretty much anything else I could get my hands on. All things considered I think I dumped about $600 (I had just received my vacation pay that month) into Eve when I first played the game.

I subbed for a month, then downloaded the client.
CBA with "free", I'd rather pay for a month, hate it, never touch it again.
Sadly that was some 6 years ago and I'm still here.... with multiple accounts...
I guess I like it ;)

3rd day or so 'officially'...

About a day into playing the game, I was hitting myself over the head, as I had heard of eve several years before (2005-2006), but at the time I was a big time WoW raider. After getting bored with the eternal grind and jumping through familiar hoops of WoW, I started looking for other games, and remembered Eve.
A day in, I felt an idiot for not playing this game sooner, the reason it took more days was because I was being lazy. 3rd day I needed the subscription because the corp that invited me in wanted non-trial members. Else it would probably have taken more time. ;)

I think this game is VERY unique... And, it's one of those games that you WANT to like, but it's so different that it throws people off.

Personally, I had done 8-10 trials of EVE and wanted to like it, but HATED it. LOL It wasn't until I found the right people to play it with that I actually stayed. So, I guess to answer the question the OP posed...... For me I was in and out of it for at least 2 or 3 years. Finally it has stuck.

I will say. Now that I'm in, it's amazing and I'm glad someone made it enjoyable enough to hang around. It's a great game.

I started my subscription after playing for one week.

Start the day off slow and taper off from there.

The first time i played eve was like a few years ago. But i was following the articles about EvE way before even trying the game.
Unfortunately I couldn't understand a single word on english at that time, so i played for about a day or two and didn't kept playing. I decided to give it another try early this year since I have a good enough english in my opinion to properly play the game and interact with other players, so I made another trial account and searched on google for tutorials of how to play the game, at the end of my first week i had already subscribed.
