Complete and utter horse-$hit... the single biggest problem in FW right now isn't in getting fights, it's in getting fights that don't involve alts. I'm more than willing to dive in head-first with my FW toon if it's in a complex with opposing faction, but if I drop into a plex (or get dropped in on) with one opposing faction and a couple neutrals, why even bother? I just go elsewhere. "Choose your fight" in FW means "choose the gang with the fewest neutrals"... "FW toons only" for plexes...

I fight everything. The few people that manage to go on roams with me are told from the very start that I can not promise that their ship will not get destroyed. But I also reimburse for my terrible fc skills. Har har har! SQUIRREL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After joing CalMil a few weeks ago, my first impression is that there are fleets, but finding a good one is hard.

Things that Mil FCs seem to do all the time, from a peons viewpoint:

- form up in some backwater lowsec system: Sure, you wanted 'BCs or higher' for your fleet, but you formup in a deadend system 3 jumps behind Tama? You will only get a tackle frig from me, because the chance of anything bigger making it to your formup location in one piece is slim.

- bad advertising: Fleet is supposed to be 'roaming' fleet, but after 30 minutes of formup, suddenly turns out to be 'iHub bash'. Fleet disbands because suprisingly no one brought the right ships for that.

- give in to the inner care bear: fleet warped to plex, but targets got away. Timer is 'only 9 minutes'! Can as well finishthe plex, right? Fleet of 15 goes on to circle novice plex beacon for the next 9 minutes...


Also I would love it if FCs posting this was a thing:

Mostly I just want to get a fight, possible wipe not a big problem, but then to get an FC that is overly careful can be frustrating.

Amarr have issue of being mostly comprised of fweddit, a group that can only fly t1 thrasher which don't seem to kill anything. Kind of sad, but they lack the discipline and the doctrines to really do anything other than die a lot.

You should already have maybe 10+ ships in one of your militias main low sec FW system. (various stuff from frigs to Tier3 BC's)

It is your own fault if you base from high sec when FW is a low sec activity.

Next time you are buying a heap of ships + fits in Jita (or wherever). Leave them all unassembled and make sure you grind an extra 75k lp (takes no time at all) and cash it in to around the 75mil needed to pay Black Frog Logistics and have it all shipped to a low sec home system.

I will break down a few more issues that you yourself have acknowledged in your post:
FC asked for a BC.
You come in frigate.
Fleet is really for hitting an iHub. (You are not ever going to be told this before you get to the iHub unless you are very well know in FW due to possible spys or enemy coming to counter the bust fleet etc - after time and you earn trust this will change)
You are now in a frigate and complaining that you have the wrong ships to bust an iHub.
FC decides - oh well these spazzos can't listen and came in the wrong ships so likely can't trust them to listen in a fight - might as well run plexes.



Just another perspective on it.

This is how anyone competent has operated in the history of ever.

It's called opsec. You know what you need to.

It allows you to operate assuming there are spies amongst you. Which is critical in an environment like FW where that is a very safe assumption... if not a guaranteed reality.

We don't have any problems bashing hubs, even when spamming it in general militia. Hilarious. Spais happen, you deal with it and move on. If you lie to people and tell them you are going to roam instead of bash you end up with the wrong pilots in the wrong ships.

So kudos to the frig pilot, not so Kudos to the whiney ass BC/BS FC that gets the ihub to 20% armor and the other faction takes one novice/small plex, takes it out of vuln, and lulz themselves to death all because the FC wanted no frigs..

Much respect to those who FC open militia fleets, it takes a lot of patience to deal with new pilots who want to get involved but don't know the mechanics of low-sec pvp. There are those corps who shy away from helping the newbs and just do their own thing in the shadows, and there are corps willing to coax that greenhorn out of the NPC corp and make them part of a fine war machine. Then there are corps who just absorb anyone they can and turn them into pawns in some f'd-up grind for sov so the leadership can sit back smugly drinking their aged liquor in a dank basement.

I haven't been in FW very long but it's clear that what's really lacking is cohesion in and between corps. You can't train FCs by treating every eager noob like a peon and you can't FC the peons forever without burning out yourself. If every pilot were taught to be a capable FC and a peon, we'd have less pilots with inflated egos, more pilots capable of figuring out their role without implicitly being told, and less fly-by-night behemoth alliances blobbing through the warzone unchecked like locusts.

Give your temples a rub and teach a few noobs or learn to enjoy complaining about the status quo. Whatever.

Actually, Wil's suggestion is more credible than you think. It's an opsec and happens all the time. I've seen militia FCs do this on occasion and people still willingly come along because having some content is better than no content at all. Try it. It works :)

Depends - if the system is well over plexed there is less reason to have the frigates there and more reason to have them in high dps ships.

Using your own example of a system coming out of vuln with 20% armour left: Big smile
If most of the people who came with the wrong ship had been in the right ships - wouldn't be an issue as the armor would not still be at 20% when the dplexing took it out of vuln.
The extra DPS would have ment the hub would be already be busted.


I doubt you really like spys/enemys coming to your hub busts - but feel free to prove me wrong by posting your next fleet ads/goals/shiptypes and Op times here in W&T an hour or two before you set out.

I am sure that will get the result you are pretending you want.
