That the effect is popular is easily supportable, use the search function on the forum.

I've never disagreed that there is an issue that needs to be (and is being) addressed. That gentleman was attempting to assert as fact that the effect is universally hated... which is absurd.

I`m not really sure where you got the idea that it is being addressed?
They have given the usual "we are sorry and are looking into it " and "what in particular is causing the problems" posts and then vanished.
The last CCP post was over a month ago on this topic i think . (i`ll check tomorrow)
You have been very kind to point the tweaks out on sisi btw Ranger 1 , but the camera swing is just polishing up and nothing towards the solution.
In fact really no progress has been made at all in realistic terms.
The animation remains the same format ... doing the same thing,,,, causing the same results.... and is still hell in tidi.
The claim that CCP is working on it , is itself unsupported. Making it prettier won`t fix it.

Every binary option you introduce doubles QC load. That's a rule of thumb, but it's true enough to be sobering. The better solution is to have a warp effect that nobody has to look away from. If CCP do it right, they can have a cleaner, simpler and more maintainable solution than yours. Nothing requires the animation to be as ooh-ahh as it currently is, especially for such a common and mundane activity.

I say that as someone who likes the current animation and who has no problem with it personally, because I have no reason to doubt any of the people who find it to be painful, often literally.

Any amount of QC (binary option or not) is NOT something that directly impacts YOUR game.
It is something that CCP are paid to do. Also, for something as simple as another visual option, I am sure they have an automated solution.

As a customer, I absolutely don't care if it is "maintainable", or "modular", or written in Lua or Python. I want this option - no "tweaks" or "better animations" will cut it.

If you like the animation, good for you. I am still waiting for a good argument as to why the off button is a bad thing.

Actually, it was even "better" than the usual "we are looking into it".

Don't forget "there is no old system anymore". And "but it will be a cop-out". These two statements are simply gems.

The SiSi animation has been tweaked, so they *did* spend time on this issue. But still no off button, of course.

I do hope you're joking.
Although.... This kind of ignorant comments only highlight the fact that an 'off option' is so needed.

I just skimmed through the last 20 or so pages of this thread to find the last dev post... one thing you notice when doing that is that it's the same few whiners again and again who wrote all the tear posts Big smile

The jumping thing is mostly fine, but for long voyages it would help immensely if a) you could zoom out very far and stay zoomed out that far after jumping, and b) the jump sound effect was less loud or just scale with zoom level like everything else! That it's always super-loud is what makes it annoying when doing 30 jumps. Or even 30 jumps on two or three clients Ugh

Did you think that different people would just develop issues with the animation?
Or did you think that those who have problems and issues would mysteriously cure themselves ?

It kind of makes sense that after no real fix, the same whiners would have the same problem and continue to post.
Anyone with an IQ would realise that.

The other problem is that lack of CCP interaction in this thread has frankly made any suggestions her really pointless too.
If you have to roll back 20 pages to find a Dev post, then they aren`t gonna roll back to find any feedback.
(frankly they had feedback before the animation went live anyways)

So, are you whining? Ugh

I don't care if you view our posts as whining. It was a stupid change that they could have done right the first time around based on feedback. But they chose to ignore it. So now it is a bigger problem and will be harder for them to fix. But hey we've all been there. I just hope they get it done asap.Straight

CCP, there are off buttons for ship explosions, missile effects, turret effects, etc. "Immersion" does not seem to be harmed by those. So, please give us a persisting off button for the jump gate and autoscan visuals.

There is no statistical data available to answer this, but personally i believe there is no change of mortality rate inside CCP.

No offense, but if they have worked on smoothing the camera swing that is indeed working on the issue... in fact it's been cited time and again in this thread that the abrupt nature of the camera swing is one of the main issues causing people discomfort.

I suppose folks that insist on an off button, even after being told a firm "No" on that front, should continue to post here. For those that are interested in the work being done to make the effect less likely to elicit motion sickness or disorientation I would suggest posting in the appropriate test server feedback thread... AFTER going to the test server. I doubt they are done making adjustments, so your input will be valuable (plus the right people will be looking at it).

If nothing else I'll put in a word over there. I think little tweaks like slowing down the speed the warp tunnel flows past, or perhaps the addition of a Nav overlay of some type that would give your eyes a fixed point to focus on might be worth exploring (something like our current Tactical View overlay, which can be turned on or off to pop up whenever jumping).

As the week-end just started, I do the necessary to go into Singularity few minutes ago and check if there are some changes...

...and I don't feel any changes. I don't say that they do nothing, but if they made some tweaks, I don't see anything really visible. Perhaps the tunnel is a few darker but hard to be sure of it.

I don't play with high-quality settings, I just can't so if there are changes, maybe I can't see them. Or they don't do anything, and I wouldn't be surprised of it in fact...

They tweaked it a bit, no doubt. Mainly the camera swing, but it´s still annoying, clumsy and ugly- especially the "warp tunnel" lolthingy.

+1 to this thread, just returned to game and thought "cool new effect" for the first 3 jumps, for the next 20 I had the screen covered with firefox to prevent throwing up.

My 4 year old son saw me playing Eve the other day and all he wanted me to do was jump back forth through the gate I was at for like 20mins straight. So I sat him down on my lap, turned the sound up, and we watched effects together as he laughed his little head-off...

Afterwards he complained about his head hurting and seemed a little disoriented so my wife has forbidden me from playing Eve around the little one now. Strange how I use to tell her that this was far safer then throwing a ball at him in the back yard…Oops

Checked on sisi, there are no disclosed changes hence no thread to post into.
There has been some beutification which some of us have posted about but anything major would have had some patch notes(of which there are none)
The last correct test server feedback request is here
https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=3267065#post3267065

CCP have also asked us to post problems in this thread further back.
No offense Ranger but can you pls have a word and get them to hit up a fix, post in this thread there is a fix on sisi so we can try it, post some patch notes and we can start a feedback thread like most other companies do.
Or failing that,(as you seem to be able to have a word and they don`t seem to follow any normal fathomable procedure)
do we just mail you and get the fix done.
Or just put an off buton, **** I jumped 3 times the other day and the animation just failed to load .... happy dayz

Yah let your wife call the shots. loser. Grow some balls. I got 3 kids. the young one can not handle 3D games the other have never had any problem with it. And my wife can not handle the 3D games. So a lame accuse to try to force ccp hands to remove animation and talking with a lame ass alt.
