Go to FW space and find a home system in low sec; the markets are well seeded in many FW low sec systems, or 1 jump out. Ichoriya / Nennamalia come to mind.

Thanks for the continued feedback. I'm going to stick with T1 frigates and learn them well, as suggested. I'm going to stick with the Kestrel. I've tried the Tristan, Incursus, Rifter, etc., but I really like missile boats (they are what I use in PvE), and the Kestrel is one sexy looking ship. lol Lol

If anyone has good kestrel PvP fits I'd love to see them...and not rocket stuff either, I want a long range sniper.

IMO-
Don't use the Kessy for LM Snipe fits. (It is a great rocket brawler.)

It is too slow to do what you want effectively. You need to be fast and control range.

1. Join Caldari FW.
2. Go to low sec in your Kessy.
3. Run a few offensive FW plexs. Spam Dscan to avoid being pewpewed till you have around 15K LP - shouldn't take long at all. An hour should be more than enough of farming to get you started.
4. Buy a BY-1 Nexus chip and some T1 missiles.
5. Swap Kestrel Hull and 10k LP in a State Pro station for a Hookbill.
6. Swap any extra LP and the T1 missiles for some faction missiles.
7. Fit ship for as much speed as possible.
8. Go Pew.

If you fly mostly in AU tz (a few hours before and after dt) send an app to my corp - anyone who likes long range missile ships will suit our style of pvp/derping.
We usually fly a few hours before and after DT.

From what I gather the days of good solo pvp are gone (if indeed they ever existed). I live in Null and last night one of our FCs took a small frig gang out of a roam, 57 jumps later in null sec we found a Falcon on gate and engaged it, he cyno’d in about 30 or 40 ships, Nagas, Dramiels, Hugins the lot, all for an 8 man frig gang.

In Null sec you may find the occasional solo PVP, but generally small gangs or bubbled gate camps which as you say are yawn for the solo pvper

I low sec you maybe better off shooting suspects or criminals, unless you don’t care about the standing fit.

Last night we did travel through a few FW systems near rens, there seems to be lots of suspects and criminals (and other players in general) there, so that maybe the better option.

What? So solo is dead because your GANG got hot dropped?

Come and play in lowsec. Plenty of solo PvP. I am not particularly skilled and this character is not old and yet has plenty of solo kills: http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/combat_record.php?type=player&name=Zappity

Dude, the very same thing happened to me the other day! I was out solo (or, well, maybe in a gang and/or with OGB and falcon) and after hours of jumping through empty systems, we engaged that one single guy and got blobbed/hotdropped/something else that has absolutely nothing to do with solo pvp. Outrageous! Solo pvp is dead and that's a fact, right?

Roll

On a more serious note, try FW if you like solo pvp. It's the closest thing you'll get outside of arranged duels in RvB.

You are right that Eve isn't like other games. There is no tiny map boxing players in, no WoWtard PvP button, and you have to do more than find your corpse and cast the "give me all my stuff back for free" spell when you die... Welcome to the sand box...

Eve pits you against real players in an open enviorment. Enjoying (and becoming skilled at) the hunt is very important here. Solo PvP is an art that has given way to technology in eve. The increased mobility and long list of jump capable ships has made it easy to move forces into a fight, anywhere. The first question on coms when we get eyes on a lone ship or pair is "someone find thier friends".

If you are looking for solo PvP you should really be looking at manuverable ships (that can dictate range and escape a bad fight). Ships like: Tengu, Cynabal, Vagabond, Fleet Issue Stabber, Ishtar (nano/shield fit), Cerberus (nano fit), just to name a few. Use a 30km faction point and when thier friends show up you bolt and try to find another target somewhere else.

Hi there! So I hear you want to solo PVP? Woah, slow down there! Solo pvp is dead! Right? Wrong! But I won't get into that. Instead I will tell you where to go to get PVP, this may or may not be solo PVP viable, but it might help.

First of all the following places are not so good or even just horribad for solo PVP:

  • Cloud Ring
  • Fade
  • Deklein
  • Branch
  • Pure Blind
  • Tenal
  • Fountain
  • Delve
  • Period Basis
  • Querious
  • Providence
  • Great Wildlands

These are the places I know, so I can tell you out of experience these are derelict zones, void of PVP, full of blobs IF they engage you and they usually won't. The following places are good for possible solo PVP:

  • Venal
  • Just kidding, not Venal
  • Faction Warfare systems
  • Rancer
  • Villirier
  • Hophib
  • Just kidding, not Hophib

Good luck! You will need it.

1. Fly to a LS area that's used for FW
2. Dscan FW sites
3. Have fun

No need for actually joining FW. The pvp there can be very fast paced. New incomings that spice up the fight or a target warping off to some celestial ... nothing like hunting him or her down. (:

Cheers

I've been doing that:

Looks like you're doing it right to me. I got to about 70 losses before things started working the way I wanted. Get FRAPS and record your fights.

watch this guy when he streams eve (he has a semi-regular schedule):
http://www.twitch.tv/lokoforloki

all solo and instant action. A stream tells more than 1000 forum posts as a old proverb says.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

Yeah but it stops you doing your own thing as well, why watch when you can participate? Big smile

I'm in FW and I get solo fights quite often. Normally ones I don't want to engage but rest assured if they have you outgunned they are going to fight you. But why only solo, gang warfare is better IMO. And don't be suprised. when you are like OMG single atron flying in, OMFG now I'm scrammed and there now are 6 other ships on dscan! Solo fights happen but half the time it's a trap and you are getting baited.

I'll second this notion. He's a great PvPer who's taught me a lot - you can watch him and plex at the same time, really.

But that is half of the fun. Killing the bait and getting out.

Or better still burning off and stringing them out so you can kill them one at a time while they watch their fleet mates get murdered before their own eyes! Twisted

That is the Way, the Tao.

Balance is everything.
