I've never understood the point of having a stated reserve below the starting bid.

i would think its to get a feel for the market.. if no one bids on a start of 80 but they bid at 60 .. i think you get the picture.

Like previous poster said, sorta to get a feel in a way. Usually if the reserve is met the seller is bound to sell it at the winning price. If below the reserve the seller can chose to sell it for lower if they wish or keep it.

So throughout the extensive hours of practicing that you guys must have put into getting to the finals of the last AT i can't imagine that this ship would have been 'underperforming' when you tested it. And if it was, then why did you bother fielding it.... twice...

Well I was speaking generally, I honor reserves but obviously I could not guarantee others would. Hence I said usually and seller in the same sentence.
