Make all ships in eve first person and as your ship takes damage you can hop out of your seat, walk thru your ship and replace the damaged parts/assemblers in real time. This would not work on Capitols since everything is to large for one person to handle.
Without something similar to this, it will just be another Descent style game. Fun until the eye candy effect wears off. I would pay $60 for a dlc with first person flight alone added to EVE. Missions would be fun again in first person.

Hello All....

Here is my thought for all this.

This would be an immense chance for CCP to replace the bad UI we have for ages.
All it would take is allow us to look around in our pod through goo or a virtual cockpit-bridge and focus on variosu sensors-screens by just turning our head.

I could only imagine how cool it would be to walk through a station through coridors to end up in a hanger with water spots oil leaks sounds action robots and drones with your active ship over head and hangar slots visible holding your other ships.

loose the toonish look of eve add more metallic stuf more rust and make it darker and you got the game people wil play for the next 20 years.

All in all excellent looks. Try not to let us down.

Actually been waiting for this for quite some years - didn't know what form it would take, or when, but always had hope and faith that it would happen... Big smile

For a while looked like it might be a Dust spin-off, but it will better as stand-alone IMO.
And now I can stop weathering the "I don't think that's likely to ever happen" knee-jerk put-downs :-)

So - PC fighters on-board our PC carriers?
Fighter bays on board our POSes?

Awesome potential - so many people missing the likes of Freespace.

But please, baby steps. Get the core gameplay slick first, *then* expand it...

I believe the phrase is "take my money" ?

The phrase should be "embed this into EVE and don't take additional money". Maybe offer an optional mobile or PC based stand alone version for which you have to pay. Made specifically for those who don't like the MMO experience (assuming this is not going to be MMO).

All ive heard from people that like the idea of eve but dont play say its because of the point and click and not so much control on your end. I know this new game is going to fill that void and own BOSSSS. so excited, looking forward to your geniusness.

I totally agree. After weeks of convincing I managed to get one of my colleagues to try EVE. After the trial he stopped because he thought there is no control over the ship and he expected this at the very minimum. He mentioned he will play Star Citizen when it comes out. Just some feedback for the masters...

As has been previously mentioned, I would not purchase a PS3 to only play Dust, but I will purchase a Rift for this.

Haha thought just occurred to me, I can expect the opening launch of Valkyrie that the EVE Pilot count will be amazingly low and SOV will fall like Dominos because everyone else is on Valkyrie shooting each other.

...um.. fire?

Very important question.

Since Valkyrie is not a MMO, will people be able to mod it freely?
What about tools for modding ala Bethesda's Creation Kit?

Is this another afk cloaking thread?

Everyone is always repeating the mantra "Don't Trust Anyone" ad nauseum... If I can't trust the guys I play with, why bother playing with them at all? Fly Solo...

CCP was always very good at making trailers.

None of them was even close to truth on final product, so I will stay calm.

Sansha Incrussions - great trailer, freighters, orcas dieing on gates. Reality: no real threat just another mission like sh*t.
WIS - same here but this time CCP gave us a thing that its not even usefull except for melting GPUs.
Dust 514 - I wont even comment this one...
CCP stuff it putting their hands on many things at same time and never finish even one!
Eve Online - there wasn't any real expanssion since Apocrypha when wormholes were introduced.
All things past it are just bug fixing, rebalancing things.

And what CCP does now?

They are renaming ships, modules and rolling bonuses on ships ( which isn't bad btw ).
I dont really care how you name Badger MkII in your next patch, cuz I stopped useing them more than 3 years ago!
Guys Eve needs a real expanssion not cosmetic changes like we have since good 2 years.
Yet you are going to start a new project which i can bet my 100 dollars wil be another big fail just like Bust514 is atm.

Focus on Eve, pls.

I highly encourage all CCP Devs/programmers to play AND research the following games.

Star Wars: X-Wing, Star Wars: Tie Fighter, Star Wars: X-Wing Vs Tie Fighter, Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance, and finally, FreeSpace 2.

Continue development AFTER playing all above games. They are great reference materials. Especially Tie Fighter (my top fav game).

Don't make the same mistake for Dust 514.

What I love with this EVE game is its depth and versatility.

A lot of people, like me, aren't twitchy reflex gamers and, therefore, probably won't like the Valkyrie gameplay. (That's because our hair is getting gray and our fingers slow, but I digress.)

One of the things that attracted me to EVE is I would NOT have to be pushing 50 buttons per second to be in space combat/trying to outclick someone half my age in order to win a fight. I could actually think, let my mind and preparation do the heavy lifting for my older fingers. An older gamer's paradise! Having said that, I think the developers here are brilliant because they're thinking of ways to incorporate a wide variety of gameplay into the EVE universe, maybe even blend it all together into the ultimate game of all computer geekdom!

(CCP, keep doing what you're doing! Older gamers like me who've been playing games since the first Ataris came out and are until now are going to continue gaming, probably until they throw us in the ground and shovel dirt on us. Give us a game we don't have to have lightning reflexes to play but don't put us out to pasture. Figure out ways for the younger crowd to get their kicks in FPS games like Dust514 and EVE:Valkyrie but be in the game with us. A place for everyone and every style of play is what the doctor ordered for BIG success in gaming. But I think you already know that.)

Also, I love the idea of a handful of talented staff pushing out a concept like this. That's the story I'd like to read

Talented staff pushing out a concept like this:

EVE VR:
- Used Oculus Rift hardware developed by 3rd party company ✓
- Used Unity graphic engine developed by 3rd party company ✓
- Hired pay to win marketing weasel to put in charge of game and business model development ✓

Dust 514
- Used Unreal 3 graphic engine developed by 3rd party company ✓
- Cloned FPS features from other titles and delivered rather dull and washed up gameplay ✓
- Sold the product to Sony to be released in old and weak PS3 platform hardware ✓

Meanwhile, on its own company developed graphic engine software:

Trinity:
- Unable to iterate on and develop it's graphics for DirectX 11 support and improve model/particle collision physics ✓
- Unable to improve core gameplay feautures like POS and SOV mechanics untouched for ages ✓

Carbon:
- Unable to deliver fluid avatar movement and gameplay features ✓
- Unable to deliver build of the software that doesn't melt user GPU's ✓

Waving CCPeens around with feats like "Connecting all the three games in a single server" might seem appealing to you, but it's not what most people are looking for when they buy and play a game (don't take my word for it, ask the players and check Dust 514 server population).

Go get urself a copy of Max Payne 3 or GTA IV and check out the RAGE engine by Rockstar and the gameplay features delivered and take a look at what a handful of talented staff pushes out:

I +1 you for your comments on Dust :D

I played Wing Commander and Privateer and these games, despite their ages, remain the best fighting games in space.

So if CCP is inspired by these games to improve the techniques of combat in space will be a very good thing, provided that such improvements are made in EVE Online.

If this is not the case, it will be no interest for me.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-09-03-sony-set-to-go-big-with-virtual-reality-on-playstation-4

shocking

Here cometh Sony, Great Punisher of peasants who dare hacking or jailbreaking their devices, Defender of copyright and anti-piracy, doing what thou asketh??? Nothing less than preparing to reverse engineer an Oculus Rift and retail it in a Slim case with a Sony™ logo on top.

Won't be too long before CCP is getting paid gloves by them again and asking you to buy a Sony HMD to play dust on a ps4 Lol ahahah
