The real question you're facing is whether or not you've got the reflexes. Gankers are used to rapid response, and they know where their targets are. You won't know when they're coming, or who their target is, so you're going to need superior reflexes and good intelligence. And a lot of patience. If you try to pre-empt them, you give gankers kill rights on you - Hilarity *will* ensue. You may even get Concordokken yourself, which is a bit humiliating (have done that my own self; I know whereof I speak). If you wait until they're flashy, you've got bare seconds in which to react before concord shows up to spoil your fun.

The good news is that a properly-fit Insta-locking boat with long-range weapons - even a frigate - can pop a gankalyst with ease. *If* you get there before Concordokken happens. Maybe you can try to pop their pods - If you're fast enough, and if they're slow enough or dumb enough to give you a chance to engage or scan them down. Don't count on it.

Let me expand on this...

When I gank miners,

I know their killboards, I know their fit, I know their entire history. That's before I even undock!

I know what's on field, where they are in relation to my target, everything. That's before I undock.

I have a perfect warp in and exit strategy...no one will be the wiser!

...how?

Because my cloaked alt has everything setup, and if there's someone there "guarding" the miner, I'll know everything about them aswell, and will more then likely go after him and have a corpmate kill the barge.

If a ganker wants a target dead, he'll be in station getting acquainted with his new clone...

I honestly think some people should go home and rethink their lives.

Ganking a miner wouldn't be worth the cost of the electricity for me. It's probably one of the least "fun" things you can do in Eve.

the gankers

Getting annoyed that gankers from Code and NO came come into a hi-sec system, flashing red as they are -7 to -10 and happily gank some industrialists.
I don't really think they understand that without these members of the community, ore would not be mined which affects ships/ammo not be built and they would suffer because of it because of increased prices.

So I would like to take action.

Don't want isk - got plenty of that, I want ship fits for frig/cruises that would allow me to gank the gankers. Any suggestion on fits?

When a Pride (pack of lions) or any predator for that manner, go on a hunt. They ALWAYS target the young/weak/sick before they go after anything else.

Survival of the fittest, you can thank your ancestors for it...

Same thing applies in EVE, go after the weak first. Bring friends to take down the fitter targets...

The point being you guys act like if a miner gets ganked its because they didnt tank....because EVERY miner loss didnt have a tank?

Hawkeyes comment got me thinking so I went and looked at the kb for exhumers killed by gankers - and of the 30 or so I looked at 22 had tanks. That means the message about tanking is getting through - however

All were on the kb because they got popped, by 2/3 or above groups of gankers.

So to the OP - good luck but unless you too get a group, you won't have a chance regardless of fit. Sorry I can't be more optimistic.

I am aware of my own ignorance and have checked my emotional quotient - thanks for asking

Funny thing about gankers is that they always repeat the same line "learn to tank" but they never learn to tank their ships. Big smile
So gank Nado should teach them some basic lessons about EHP.

You should be able to take out at least one Catalyst in 0.7 or higher with 800mm Repeating Artillery and faction Fusion. Two Catalysts easily in 0.5.

There's no point in tanking a suicide gank ship, suicide being the important word. It's guaranteed to die, why tank it?
Miners on the other hand don't expect their ships to die every time they undock, can you see the important difference?

Thx Tobias - a ship fit. Will give it a go

Klandi - I hear what your saying. Hopefully when results start, then others might join in.

Azami - this has nothing to do about survival of the fittest, it is to do with CCP creating the conflict arena that sustains a virtual economy

If you want constructive and/or pertinent feedback in a forum you should probably not write ******** dribble like that...

Because no matter how you try to put it, you are wrong per definition of the game developers. This is intended game-mechanics.. and if u play a game and don't agree with said mechanics in a game...u prob are playing the wrong game for you.
I am not trying to be a smartass or troll here (a little lie there perhaps, but i mean well Roll ). I just want you to understand that YOU have to learn to how to play the game, how to fit ure ship etc (to minimize risk of ganking in this case). If you loose a ship, that is YOUR fault and not CCP or the their game... It is you!

Adapt or die... thats all u ever have to know about EVE (besides the fact it is not made for everyone).

Just remember to wait a bit before you start shooting so they get criminal flag first.

Some of them probably start complaining about it but they get used to it quite fast.
