I saw Clears Skies 1, thought it was really well done for an amateur production. It kind of bugged me that the ships were fighting at about 2km range. But it's the same in all space or modern air combat dramas. If the ranges were realistic, the craft would just appear as little specks or blips on a scope.

I think, for the sake of movie visuals and the like, they keep the ships all within visual range of each other. Although, I remember Star Trek episodes (the James T. Kirk Star Trek episodes), where the ships were too far to show up on "visual", and they actually waited a span of time for photon torpedoes to travel to and from the target, etc. Those battles were kind of cool and suspenseful. Even though all they did, most of the time, was fall out of their chairs a lot (seat belts?).

What really impressed me was how they used Half-Life2 avatars to play the various roles, and do the gun fights, but used EVE ships for the space battles. Made me wonder what EVE - Dust - WiS would have been like - if it had worked out. *sigh*
