There really is no hell. The revised scripture says there's hell, the unrevised (read: not rewritten by people looking to scare the masses and keep them in line) scripture only makes a reference to a Gehenna where, if you had a crap life, piles of trash burn and rats pick at discarded corpses. The actual place, located in Israel, was a dump at the time and if you lived your life as a scumbag, there was a good chance your body simply got thrown on the old heap there.
