Oh lookie thar, walking in ships, walking in stations, actual characters to interact with including scantily clad woman .... so why exactly is it so hard for CCP to have accomplished something similar by now?

Ok. If you say so.
You haven't played it, I take it?

It isn't the graphics, it is the promis they are making. And if they can maintain those promises with the same level as the hype is, then it will make Eve, old.

How is Xrebirth different to Mass Effect? It's a single player game, you make decisions that change the course of the plot. The NPCs are only smart enough to buy/sell, I wonder how many of them were adventurers like you until they took an arrow to the knee?

All I saw in that video was a lot of graphical noise. There was no indication of plot, the NPCs can't shoot straight, and most of the action seems to be stick-piloting a space fighter. We had plenty of that in Elite, last Century.

It wasn't just about overpriced vanity items. There was:

  • Nothing new in FiS
  • the promise of walking in stations, we got walking in shoebox
  • the only shoebox we got was the minmatar one
  • the graphics causing video cards to melt while displaying one character in one room
  • the talk of "Pay 2 Win" stuff like paying real money for gold ammo
  • the talk of "concierge" items such as more saved fittings
  • the forced entry into CQ
  • the removal of ship spinning, one of the noblest activities in EVE (noble like argon and gold, not noble like Duke of Edinborough)

If you think the Summer of Rage was just about monocles, you weren't paying attention.

There is nothing bad in fancy graphics, as long, as there is gameplay behind it. Overall X is not bad game, as you can see Skyrim was single player and was bought by many, both games lack multiplayer. Words "your actons truly matter" are about making something in simulated environment, and as we know EVE is more "real", because it have real humans as characters.

I remember watching fanfest videos online, great thoughts about WIS and Planetary flight and whatnot..

Planetary flight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Pg1dzAvL2M

That video was released... SEVEN.. YEARS.. AGO.

The list of great features that never happened is loooong and like you said.. the null people with the same amount of life irl are sadly the ones who get their voices heard here on the forums.

Definitely won't break eve, single ship, walky roundy bits....it will have some people playing for a couple of weeks until they come back basically.

Don't feel too bad, but people still are playing X3: Albion Prelude, which is a DLC for X3: Terran Conflict, which was a DLC based on the massive X-Tended mod 0.7 for X3: Reunion.

So essentially people has been playing X3 for 7 years, and some have bought it 3 times (original + TC + AP).

Also, 6 years later, the trailer for X-Tended mod 0.7 still is one of the best you will see in your life.

I have them all, I'm was just talking about intensively and exclusively. Thats what I meant :)

I still play birth of the federation for example.

The X series is a industrial simulator at heart, much as EVE is a spreadsheets simulator at heart.

Let's say that you fancy a small fleet of escort fighters for your traders. The ships are relatively easy to acquire unless you need a lot and choose to build them your own, but the equipment is another beast. NPC traders don't supply military industries. So you may, either build your own industries, or set up traders to supply NPC industries.

Production is a complicated issue, as everything needs different resources which in turn must be manufactured or obtained from other resources. Even the simplest resource, energy cells, requires trading with other races at one point or another. FAI, Argonian power plants use crystals whose factories use meatsteak cahoonas which use Argonian delexian wheat which uses Boron bogas which uses Teladi teladianium. Meatsteak cahoonas also use argnu beef which uses Boron plankton which uses delexian wheat, and Split scruffin fruits which use Teladi Teladianium and Teladi nostrop Oil, which uses sunrise flowers which use Boron bogas... and so and so.

Nothing compared to EVE's uber-deep "set up line, feed minerals, wait", as you may notice. But don't take my word for it. Just see it yourself with this fancy production spreadsheet.

Does X have seasonal goods like Star Wars Galaxies used to have when it wasn't broken by Sony's NGE?

Debating X vs Eve is a waste of time at best. But we all know what the point is. People want Eve to be a more whole space simulator experience like CCP so often preached about.

I'm not going to beat about the bush, I am just going to say it. Most of you know where I stand anyway. Eve in Stations. We want to be able to dock up, have just as much impact, be just as cut throat, cheat steal and kill each other, set up seedy business deals, do industry/business or just **** about...

Graphics look meh, DirectX 9c written all over it Roll

Low to average, at best, will probably pull through with an mobo integrated Mobile Radeon gpu / 1GB of DDR3 video ram.

Pretty much in line with the hardware of your average EvE player Blink

You forgot the removal of ship spinning, which also contributed to the fiasco.

There are no citations as far as I know. But the fact that it was a single video relased during Fanfest 7 years ago and CCP has not talked about it never again should be a clue. According to EVE pundits, it was a teaser/joke related to Planetary Interaction and never were any plans to actually implement it.

But don't hesitate to contact CCP devs and get a citation.
